Two Flats in Two Weeks

I have an LE King Cab, 4x4, with towing pkg. I have been towing and going off road. I am now afraid of the tires. The first blew out just going down a dirt road at about 30-40. That alarm sure made me wonder what was up. Second time was going down a highway. When you hear that alarm, get off quick!!!

Noone has the oem tires, even in Salt Lake City. So I had to replace the spare with a LT tire, which is fine. Was a close decision on the second tire, but since it could be repaired, I went with just that. One more flat though, and I'm buying 3 new LT tires.

Also, something under the truck marks the spare. Fairly deep grooves, 4 of them. Not too cool.

Really tired of changing tires in the hot sun.....

The p-rated tires that come on the titan are not up to any type of dirt/off road use. I have had at least 10 flats so far. The rugged trail tires are no better as they are p-rated also. An LT-rated tire is what is need. BFG has come out with an 18 inch all terrain tire in size 285/65/18 (maybe 60 , I forget)That should be a perfect replacement for the Goodyear SRA. The BFG is also a load range D.
According to BFG's web site these tires should be available next month.

4 Wheel Parts quoted me 10/31/04 for their availability (through them anyway).

What's Wrong with the All Terrain T/A?

Bf Goodrich, All Terrain T/A ko, LT285/70R17D, ad claims their the latest generation.

I paid 202 installed, but another store has them for 234 each.

The off road package comes with 17 inch wheels. They also have this in an 18" rim size.

This is what they had, so this is what I got when I replaced my spare. Could have bought three more but decided to wait.

you know, I was about to throw the same post up here. I have the Goodyear 18"s that came stock on the truck, and since I got it, I have had 3 flats in the last 2 months. In the last 5 years I have had NONE! In the last week, I have had 2. I am on a first name basis with the guys at my tire place now, and I kind of find it hard to believe its just a string of bad luck. My front passenger tire now has 2 patches, and the tire place said they will do 3 max, so it looks like I will be buying a new tire soon at the rate I am going!!!!

Oh yeah, both times in the last few weeks I have come out of work after working a 14 hour overnight and had to change tires after being up all night. Not fun at all. I had to call for road service because the lug they gave me for the locks was warped and would not grab onto the nut.

What caused the flat-nail,glass,sharp rock??

What actually caused the flat-any idea? What sort of hole was made in the tire.In the city I frequently find a nail, screw,or occasionally a square of glass? Was the hole in the tread area,or sidewall? Thanks,Charlie

all of them were caused by nails. 2 of the 3 were small, too. All of them were on the treads, not between them.

All the flats on my Goodyear 18 inch tires are in the sidewalls. I have had to put my spare on as one of the tires is beyond repair. I have 6,000 miles so far. I hope to get 10,000 before replacement. Now that fishing season is here I expect that the tires will be totally shreded in the next couple of weeks. Traveling on gravel bars is a death sentence to p-rated tires. I had the same experience with the Rugged Trail tires on my Tundra. I will be buying BFG AT tires as soon as they are available. They worked great on my Tundra. Never had a sidewall failure, plus they don't dig into the sand and gravel like the Goodyear, or rugged trail tires.

I am really kind of pissed about it, actually. A 30K truck getting 3 flats in 2 months is unacceptable in my book. My driving habits have not changed, I didn't take the truck offroad, and now I am faced with having to buy a new tire already.

Is anyone else having issues with the new Goodyears???

If all of the flats were due to nails, how is it the tire's fault?

Sounds like you just had a bad run of luck with road debris. I saw a construction truck lose a box of nails while going down the road. Don't you know that ruined a few people's days.

It's from where the tire is cranked up against the frame, they go away somewhat over time.

Are you serious? You are blaming your flat tires on the truck?!? So do you think it is acceptable for a $10K truck to have 3 flats in 2mos?? Not sure I understand your rationale...
