Revised brake judder TSB is online

There has been some confusion with owners still looking for a copy of the revised brake judder TSB. The old TSB 04066 was revised online to reflect the update (TSB 04066A) that included additional parts to be replaced. Even though the date of the TSB is still May 2004, it is the most recent version.

The original TSB fixed the symptom by turning the discs and replacing the pads. The revised TSB goes farther by including a replacement torque member, sliding pin kit and revised pads.

The shame about this, is that you have to ruin a perfectly good disc(s) in order to qualify for the new parts. The lathe turned disc has reduced life, whereas if they would just put in the new pads, torque member and sliding pin kit before the discs warp, they could save your new disc and themselves some machining labor.

Their rationale no doubt, is that this way they only have to fix those people who ask for it. The reality, is that everybody is going to be asking for it anyway.

...if the rotors are not warped, turning them will not remove very much material!

...if you are getting the TSB done it is because the rotors ARE warped (well, ideally anyway. You always get the people who treat TSBs as recalls...ruin it for the rest of us).

Also, my brakes are fine and I haven't asked for it. You can be damn sure that if they do start acting up, I will request new rotors.

Well...I still have not got a call about my brakes and the truck just dances under braking. We just got our first big storm so we'll see how my wife handles the movement in the rain...I know I'll be driving it soon as the Skyline has no issues in the wet.

Brake Pedal TSB

I just took my Titan to the dealership for the brake pedal TSB. The service writer showed me a color booklet he was reading, it showed all of the brake TSBs and a thorough description on how perform repairs. He informed me that he didn't know about the brake problem on the Titan until he read the booklet.

Don't these people ever get any training?

the qx56 brake tsb is worded differently than the titan tsb refer to "actions". the sliding pin kit was'nt in the tsb i printed in june. i had second tsb done at 10,000 miles, i now have almost 16,000 miles. my brakes still feel great, but i 've got to tell you ,every time i hit the brakes i'm thinking about judder. i do love my truck, but the brakes have made me paranoid. i'll be checking in for any more info.

Having my third TSB brake fix performed today. First one done at 4300 mi, second one at 7200 mi, and today's at 12300 mi. I had the judder at about 11000 mi but I had to wait on parts, dealer claims Nissan only shipping one brake repair set per week.

Mine's going in for the 2nd time tomorrow. Has anyone had the new TSB done yet? Did the brakes feel any better? Mine are pretty soft...
