Factory Technical Rep says still problems with brakes after new TSB
I spoke to my service manager and this will be my fifth time in for the judder and he contacted the factory rep for my area. He stated that there are still judder problems even after the new TSB with Armadas and Titans. He is double checking that the new trucks coming from the factory are having the same problems as those being fixed by dealers to rule out any errors dealers might perform when doing the TSB's. He thinks that it is a problem from the factory itself and he will keep me posted when the rep has figured something out.
Even with the new TSB they state that the lug nuts need to be torqued to 98 ft lbs. Before I had my 2nd go around I reduced the torque to 85 ft lbs and it reduced some of the judder.

I did the same (based on JetTech's advice) back when my truck had about 1000 miles on it. Now have 8100 miles and I have felt no brake judder.

I torqued to 90 lbs....compromising JetTec and the 98lbs. specced.....1,500 miles in the windy mountains.....no problems at all.....and using the transmission much as possible to reduce brake wear........I thought the discs all around wouuld be a no-brainer compared to drums in the back like my T100 had...and always needed adjusting. So for those with the reocurring problems it sounds like no fix yet???? Sounds like bigger rotors and pads are needed....how much bigger can Nissan go?????
My thought is that it is ultimately going to have to be bigger rotors and calipers. What else is there to replace, they tried everything already! I also use my transmission to slow down the truck. The rotors glaze over so quickly from when they did the TSB. Which means they are overheating, right?
From what the rep says, it is just the most recent TSB. That is why they are verifying it at the factory. Kind of a let down. I would have liked to have heard that they completely redesigned the brake system. That is really the only big downfall with this truck. The Titan kills any Chevy I ever owned motor and drive train wise. Maybe they'll fix the brakes this time around!
I don't think the disk areas are too small. Nor are they overheating. They stay ice cold for me. Something else is going on, resonance, natural frequency, calipers.

japan makes the best steel on earth. i've done NDT on every manufacturer around.
Yup, the Japanese nearly put the U.S. steel industry under with their modern continuous casting plants. The steel came from Japan for the huge turbine shafts used in the Aswan dam project.
