drilled rotors

I just took the plunge on the front and rear rotors. One of the e-bay guys is posting Brembo blanks being drilled and slotted but many are calling BS on it. After reading his feedback I wouldnt go for it. Decided to buy from Rich at rotorpros. At least he shows photos of the actual rotors you are receiving. They also come with a 3 month warranty.

I've been thinking of the same set. let me know how they fit and work. brembo also has a set of pads to match the rotors, and to get best performance I recomend getting the pads also. to not get the pads would be like buying a supercharger but not installing the belt to drive it. for how exspensive the rotors are the pads are a cheap way to improve even more. and the drilled and slotted rotors are more fore reducing heat then improved stopping, the pads are what actually do the stopping

Yeah, well.......be careful about the Brembo thing. Some of the e-bayer's are posting they have modded brembo rotors but according the brembo dealers they dont even cast a blank that has the correct measurements to work with the Titan. Who ever heard of real brembo rotors slotted and drilled for $60 a piece anyway?
My Armada has always stopped plenty fast enough with the stock brakes so I will continue the use of the stock pads...their basically new. Dont worry Smokedya2, if there was a huffer under the hood it would have a belt on it!

see if you cant try to do your own 60 to 0 stopping test before and after the brake job to see how many feet you took of the stopping distance. if you have one of those G-tech meters they also tell you stopping g-force. did the test on my truck and got .93 g's with stock equipment. damn near put me through the front window it stopped so fast. also did a buddy's 2003 chevy RCSB w/stick and the best G's he could do stopping was .79 G's with down shifting and .75 G's without. are stock brakes are awesome compared to some others.

Hmm...yes please do keep us posted. I think I'm going to hold out until April-May and see if Nissan really is going to replace our rotors/calipers.

I also heard Nissan was going to have a mass recall on all Titans and Armadas. When it happens I guess is the real question. My factory brakes really work just fine. Its a shame such a simple fix has hindered these trucks since the beginning. Anyone that has a Titan or Armada will have this problem..its just a matter of time. Someone is also offering "Cryo'd" rotors and hp pads on ebay for the Titan, I think the bidding started at $580.00 sound a little steep to me.

Here it is.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...939329127&rd=1

Here is the Titan rotors buy rotorpros. This was the only standup guy I could find that was honest about everything (Rich at rotorpros). He would probably hook everyone up on a "group buy" as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...938412048&rd=1

Compare the heat vanes in the rotors whatever you buy and dont fall for the Brembo act! READ FEADBACK!

Hey guys..I haven't had brake problems yet.....but the tranny couldn't take all the downshifting from week #1.....and still has issues!!! I have 3,000 miles now.....in the mountains...I have electric brakes on my trailer..about 1,500-2,000 lbs. average. I sure hope a stronger brake system comes out. Is it possible the rear brakes don't do enough????? So the front warp-out????? Maybe the fronts need to be bigger....This problem should have never occurred....must have used brakes made for the mpg estimates at 45 mph and on flat land at Sea Level!!! lol How do you turn the drilled and slotted rotors?????
Good luck.....

Good question Tom. I have been told by a local mechanic that the rotors can be turned as long as the holes are chamfered (sp) or flared at the top of the hole. I have also been told that they cannot be turned on a cutting lathe but have to be surface sanded. If the whole problem is the caliper and not the rotor I will be finding out pretty quick so I will keep everyone up to date. Also, I will post pictures after the install.

Your correct JMC to costly. The auction you noted here was started Saturday of last week. Tuesday we found that Centric makes both fronts and rear rotors for the Titan and Armada now. What a relief! We have been forced to buy rotors over the parts counters from dealers, when they would sell them to us… Anyway, this auction and the cost is out of here Saturday.

Thanks for chiming in ART. Lots of folks need brake help around here! I would love to have had cryo'd rotors but they are out of my price range. I sure am glad to see you guys offering them. The aftermarket parts supply is really starting to take off for the Titans and Armadas thanks to folks like you.

Got the rotors on today but have just driven a few blocks. They definately stick very well.....it takes very little pressure to keep the truck from rolling (when idling in drive). Im ready to see how fast they chew through the stock pads because you can tell they are a different breed as soon as you hit the pedal. I will post pictures this weekend.....weather has been ugly here all month.

1) Brembo does not make blanks for our truck yet. I have already contacted them. Stillen is still waiting for them as well.

2) Slotted and Crossdrilled is more for looks than actual working. Slotted is a hair better, but friction causes heat, which in turn causes the warpage to occur faster. Crossdrilled has less surface area for the pad, so more heat, and more chance to warp or crack.

The best thing to do, is get a set of OEM rotors, and have them Cryo treated. Then get better pads, like the ones being shown at clubtitan.org. Then you should not have any more problems.

So these rotors on ebay are only OEM with a Zinc coating to prevent rust. They will warp faster than the factory oems.
