The 295/70R17's have an approved rim range of 8.0-9.5. The OR wheels are 7.5" I believe, so they'd be too small, although I've seen it done before. On a 8.5" rim, the nittos have a 12.13" width.

Hmmm . . . Man the BFG's on my wife's Jeep are loud! I mean, seriously, if your doing 45 or 50 mph down a street you literally can't use a normal voice to talk to the passenger and this is with the windows up. With the windows down, it's unbearable in my opinion. I have tried a few different tire pressures and rotated them religiously at 5,000 miles like was suggested by America's Tire/Discount Tire. Maybe it's just my vehicle or the tire size? I have a buddy who had them on his Suburban a few years back and I don't remember them being that loud which is why I decided to go with them in the first place. Who knows? But I love the Nitto's and I'm glad to hear your comfortable with the noise level since I will be getting the exact same size you have on the same rim width. I want to do the PRG Leveling Kit first and then the rims and tires. Thanks for the information.

Yeah, I would not call either the Nittos or BFG A/T "noisy". Noticable yes, noisy no. You get used to it and then never notice it again.

There are a number of variables that come into play, the actual vehicle being the biggest factor. I'd say that your wife's jeep just had some strange acoustic properties. While tire noise is somewhat a subjective thing to measure, I can say for certain that the Nittos are no way near as intrusive as you described your BFGs. As Mike reiterated, I haven't even noticed mine since I first installed them.

12.13" is the overall tire width, do you know what the actual thread size is? I dont think the thread size increases with a wider rim, or I may be wrong, I tought only the overall wall width increases but not the thread, it does not stretch or does it?

THX in advance

I just took a measurement with a tape measure and it's roughly 10.25". For comparison, I also measured the oem Goodyear's (on the 18" LE wheels) sitting in my garage and they measured slightly under 9" of tread.

Outstanding! I hope it is just the Jeep because I love the Terra Grappler's.

I just put that on. I can't hear a darn thing now. The radio doesn't fade (what radio?), the dash rattles are gone, and I feel 16 again!

I want to get some 20 inch rims and have the oversize tire. Can anyone recomend a rim if im going to put some tera grapplers on? What brand and model looks the best and where can you get it. I would like to get 33s or 34s . Right now i have 32.8 standard off road package tires. I am getting the PRG kit, how big can i fit? Please let me know

I recommend the white steel trailer wheels for the true offroad look

okay, not really. wheel selection is a private thing that every man must decide for himself. Pick some that you can go the long-haul with.
good luck

For the people using this tire, how does it perform off road (mud, sand)?

I'm still curious how many miles these tires are good for. Stocks are fading fast and I need replacements. Crazy how the stocks don't last very long.
