Other people are running 305x70 on our oem 17" wheels, I was wondering why not could we run 295x70 on our stock wheels...
The Nitto Terra Grapplers look very nice, and look to be a great update for those wanting a good All terrain tire, I used to run the Toyos Open Country and loved them, great grip every where, mud, sand, rain, highway, etc, the only downside with the toyos is that they get punctured very easy which I dont loke about them and since the Nittos look similar to the toyos I was wondering why not use them in my truck...
My oem tires are still new less than 1,000k but I will probably used them for less than 10,000k so Im looking for a great All Terrain update.
There are lot and they have posted pic's too. Give is a search youll see them. I am going to get them too once I burn the ones I have on it now off. Stock tires dont seem to last long but I at least want to get what I can out of them.

I have the 295/70R17's on my truck and am really pleased with them. You'll probably need a level kit in order to run them, as they would probably rub otherwise. They are 33.10x12.13. The approved rim width is from 8-9.5, I don't recall what the OR package wheel width is, but I'm running 17x8 Centerline Stingray III's. Check the link in my signature for pictures.

I tried the search method first and didnt find anyone with the nittos on the stock wheels, just sammys with after market wheels...
Hey Mike, Ive read a couple of yur threads, seems you installed the tires first, then the front level kit. I want to have the same Nitto tires on the my oem wheels without a lift first, then add the leveling kit.
1.- Did the Nittos rubbed without the front level kit?
2.- Notice any improvement with the kit?
3.- How is the handling on wet highways or streets compared to the oem tires?
4.- Did your gas milage change with the new tires?
THX in advance, and sorry for all the questions...

1.- No, but I never had it offroad. They may have if I'd have hit the right bump with the wheel turned at the right point.
2.- Other than improved height and look, no.
3.- Similar wet, better dry.
4.- No, they are virtually the same diameter, and the wheels are much lighter than OEM.
You should note that Nitto does not rate the 295's for 7.5" wheels, if I recall correctly.
MIKE H. : Did you notice any improvement on the ride after the Nittos, what I mean did you get a SOFTER or a HARDER(bumpier) after adding the aftermarket Nitto tires???

About the same, with a little bit of tread noise, similar sound to the BFG All-Terrain if you've ever had a set of them.

Uh oh! Damn. I really like the Terra Grappler tires but if they sing as loud as a BFG All-Terrain I am not interested. I have a set of BFG All-Terrains on my wife's 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X4 and I about go out of my mind listening to those damn things roar going down the road. Are they really as loud as the BFG's???? If you don't have the radio on and no other noise in the truck is it annoying??? Man I love the Nittos . . . This sucks.

I haven't noticed any appreciable amount of road noise from my Nittos. The first day I had them on I could tell they were different from the Goodyear SR/As, but after that I can't even tell there's any tire noise. But I don't know how you could think the BFG T/As are loud, as I've had them too and couldn't call them noisy.
Just wondering if anyone has mounted the 295/70/17 terra grapplers on oem off road rims, so far I have only seen them on aftermarket wheels. Some pics would be great if anyone has them.

Can anyone measure the actual thread width of these 295x70 Terra Grapplers? our oem 17" tires have a thread width of 9" which I think its kind of skinny for a 285x70 tire...
