Eagle Alloy 187 17x9" Two-Thumbs-Up!

I got my new wheels mounted last night and so I wanted to post details in case somebody else is looking at Eagle wheels. Mine are model number 187 in 17x9" w/ +2mm offset. they stick out about 3/4 of an inch past the fender (perfect IMO) but the front ones do not quite clear the calipers. I guess it's common knowledge that not all 17" wheels fit on the titan. right now the front wheels clear with ample room with just a 1/4 wheel spacer.
tomorrow I am going to grind about 1/8 of an inch off part of the caliper. sounds worse than it is. I'll take pictures when I do it and cleap up the wheels to post pics of them.
I'm thrilled with the way that they look! they make the stock BFG R/Ts look like tough 33s.

Those are good looking wheels. Can't wait to see pics on the truck. How much did they run ya, if you don't mind? I wonder how much 18's would run?

I bought the same rims, went to have them mounted and all I heard was I don't recommend that I use these rims because of the 5" backspacing and that I would need new lugs. I went to two other places and they all told me the same thing. They don't recommend any wheels that call for any type of back spacing insert. Can someone please clue me in on why this is? I mean besides the wheel/tire sticking out a little. I looked at several other rims and all I see is back spacing.

I saw the 137's on ebay and really like them, especially since they have a pic of them on the Titan. I assume since they are posted on the company website, they are officially endorsed for Titan use: http://www.aewheel.com/gallery_vehicle.cfm?id=77

I would go with the 18x9. Any reason to stick with 17"?... other than to save $$.. tires are cheaper for the smaller wheel too. Even with occasional off-roading, the 18" wheel and a 33" tire is just fine.

I couldn't afford to replace the tires right away, so I'll have to live the BFG R/Ts until they're well worn.
I bought the wheels on ebay from TX-Take-Off-King somewhere outside of Houston. I paid $370.00 + $80.00 for shipping. pretty good deal IMO.
I took pictures of where I grinded on the caliper mounting bracket to clear the wheels and pictures of how far these stick out of the wheel well but I don't have a place to upload them to post them on this forum. anybody wanna' help me out? If you send me the links to the pictures I'll do a description under each one. thanks

oh yeah, and I did have to replace the lug nuts b/c the hex portion of the stock lug nuts is a little short.

Looks really nice! Any chance we can get some pics from front, rear and side to see how these look with the truck all the way around?

Also, since you took the grinder to the brake calipers, you aren't using those 1/4" spacers anymore correct?

that's right, those spacers weren't letting enough of the wheel studs stick out through the wheel for the lug nuts to grip. plus they're kind of ghetto. I stripped out two lug nuts tightening them down with the spacers on b/c not enough threads for them to grab.
My Sony DSC-P10 digital camera ($399.99 piece of crap) blackens everything out in bright sunlight so I'll take some all around pics in the morning.

Those look nice, I really like the price. Did they have the wheels for sale and them you let them know what it was going on.

Looks like they have another set on there that are slightly blemished that fit Chevy, but are the same size and offset. They fit after grinding down the caliper a bit?

pic of wheels on truck

any 17x9" wheel by Eagle Alloy w/ +2mm offset and 6x5.5 bolt pattern should be a fit as long as you're willing to do a little "sculpting" on the caliper mounting bracket.

i found the same wheels on ebay by the same guy. if you bid on them and win, call him and ask him to include some longer lug nuts (20 lug nuts and 4 locks cost me 35.00 at autozone) and the smallest chrome valves he's got. If you can get him to throw that stuff in the box for like twenty extra bones it would save you from driving all over town later.
P.S. Discount tire will charge you 187.00 to mount and balance all four w/ new lug nuts and chrome valves so I recommend finding a smaller local shop.

Looks really nice!

So you can't use the factory tire pressure monitors with these wheels?
