I hate to ask but.......

I have been searching all over and am practically crosseyed. I am going with the BFG AllTerrain's because they will suit my needs the best. I will be installing my PRG kit soon. I have on order 17x9 Eagle 101 wheels. Now to my question, Which size tire can I fit? 285/70 or 315/70

Thanks for your patience and please don't wish bad things upon me.

I'm pretty sure that the 315's are a 35" tire which would be too big for just a leveling kit. I would stay with the 285/70 or Nitto makes the Terra Grappler in a 295/70 if you want just a little bigger.

Say's it measures at 34.5, stock tire measures around 32 doesn't it? I think it should be close.

I think you will have some serious rubbing issues though. I'm sure they will fit, it just depends on how much trimming you will need to do and having to worry about not making tight turns cuz it will rub. I'm sure some others will chime in with more input too.

What throws me is some people are running 35's. Maybe I better not chance it. I just don't want 285's to look too small. I want it to look lifted.

check out sammy's ride - prg, 295/70 grapplers, 17x8 w/5"BS. yours might stick out a lil more and look "bigger." i believe the peeps that go with the sport truck look running 20s and 22s also right around 33". 35+ is better for lifted trucks.

Skyjacker, Bushwacker, Centerline, and Nittos installed

You know what it is...going with the 315's is something I know I shouldn't do but it is so tempting. You just need convincing that it won't work to not do it. I will go with 285's a have a little fender gap instead of stuffing 315's and run the risk of messing something up. I go out to the dunes a lot towing a very heavy toy hauler so 285's would be best.

Thanks.

If that 17x9 is a 5" backspace, the 285 is probably about all you can go, which is the factory size (33") on the offroad. I very seriously doubt the 315's would go without some cutting or liberal use of the BFH. Do the 295 Nittos. I love mine.

what's wrong with 305 70-17? those are 33" but nice and wide like a lifted truck should have.

I just checked 4wheelparts.com and saw that they don't have the BFG a/t or m/t in that size but here is a Goodyear Wrangler MT/R. This is supposed to be a good tire also. this probably doesn't help but, anyway:

"Which size tire can I fit? 285/70 or 315/70"

The first is too short and the second is too wide. I'd go with the 295/70/17's.

Very interesting thread. I am thinking tires too since i got the PRG kit. When i met up with Greg, His Titan has 35" tires on it and looks awesome! But rubs slightly in sharp turns on the fender. The 295/70/17 sounds about perfect. I am waiting for the "pro's" to chime in.

The 17x9's I am getting are -8mm and 4 5/8 offset. Good year Wranglers are a good tire, but way too soft. I really want the Nitto's , but I have a wholesale account through the Tire Rack and I can get BFG's fairly inexpensive. Nitto's are kinda hard to come by right now according to Discount Tire. I wish they still had there warehouse in Reno, I could pick up and wouldn't have to have them shipped. I looked into ProComps(buy 3 Get 1 free deals starts Mar. 1), but there tires measure kinda small.

DStewart, 315/70R17's would probably work. As mentioned above, Prerunner Greg is running 35" BF Goodrich Mud Terrains with just a leveling kit with just little rubbing at full turn. If you went with All Terrains, I doubt you would have any rubbing at all. Go to a tire place and get them to mount them and see if they are to your liking.

I just have the 2.5" leveling kit, and have ordered the BFG 315/70/R17's, but they still need to be shipped to me. I'm crossing my fingers as to how much there are going to rub.
I just payed for the tires tonite, so it will be at least 4 days before I get them, and another day to get them mounted.
I also thought the 285's wouldn't fill the fender well as much as i wanted. I would have loved a 305....
As soon as I get them on the truck, I'll get pics here!
