Got the truck, working on a trailer. Meantime anybody try fitting a touring bike in the 5.5 ft bed?
Not sure what you mean by 'Touring Bike', but I think there's 67 inches between front of bed and the extender. My bike fit with a few inches to spare, no problems tying it down.
Be careful with the maximum load of the tailgate though: technically it's 200lbs. Another member posted that he noticed the posts that the tailgate cables attach to were bent after loading his bike. I haven't had that problem yet (my bike weighs about 450lbs, I'm 235lbs), and I walk my bike up the ramps, so combined weight approaches 700lbs.
Still, getting something like this would probably be a good idea.

I've hauled many a bike, four wheeler, and riding mower in trucks....and you just can't beat a utility trailer with a fold down ramp.
I've still got the same trailer I've pulled behind three different Nissan trucks. It's a 10 footer, and just long enough for my Yamaha Rhino.
I'm going to look at new Honda cruisers today....I may have to re-register as Metric Squid....or Rice Squid....or Squid w/ Rice......don't want to get rid of the Rhino....or put 20k in a street bike....I just don't ride that much anymore.

My bike alone weighs over 700 LBS, dry. The thought of us both on the ground from the height of the bed is deterrent enough not to try. (I'm a woos)

I measured therCC before I bought.I ended up with the KC,but for different reasons.It is about 84-86" diagonally.It would have fit my smallish bikes-56" wheelbase 18-19" narrow tires-they are about 82" overall length.I think a touring bike will just miss.I measured diagonally,because I like to be able to shut the tailgate-just don't trust not fully" containing" the bike.I'm sure it is OK,but it just makes me nervous to drive behind a truck with an open tailgate,and a bike hanging out.Charlie

Naw....those BMW guys are hardcore....I think most of them don't even own a car...now if I were to go with something from Bavaria...this one would better suit me for a little ride up to the club.....
I hauled my HD in the bed of my Titan, the back wheel sat fully on the tailgate, but seemed to work great. My only complaint was that the bed extender wouldn't fit witht he bike in the back.
$20,000 bike, hauling your bike around in your truck??? You guys must be talking about Harleys. I bought an 84 Honda Magna V-65, for $3000, when I retired in 2000. It had 5,000 miles on it when I bought it. Now it has about 17,000 miles on it and it's never seen the bed of my Titan. I bought the damn thing to ride, not haul around in the back of a truck. Oh, and one of my favorite entertainments is to go riding with the Harley crowd and just wait for someone to get an itch to really ride. Then my trusty 21 year old cruiser starts having fun!! If anyone with a $20,000 bike is in the Northern California area and would like to have some fun, just let me know. I've run out of local Harley riders who want to ride hard with me.
Stan, be nice to them Harley riders. Poor fella's have bought in to the hype and got themselves a REAL piece of American iron. You need to ignore that over/under thing. Oh, c'mon....you know what I'm talking about....

I ride a Yamaha, Midnight Venture, touring bike to work just about every day. 30,000 miles a year. One of my favorite things is to let a Hardley tear up next to me when I'm speedy and sport some attitude. I'll take him up to his redline, hold him there for awhile to make it look legit, then upshift......
The Royal Star's (midnight and otherwise) sport the V-max motor. De-tuned to be sure, but still more than enough to spank a Harley.
Okay, I'm done funnin' with y'all now.
