Tire Size Help....

I would like to get some new rims for the Titan, However I am not into lifting the truck up, So my question is what is the Maximum size I can go up to without any rubbing or trimming.

Thanks

Do a search to help you better narrow down your options, but from what I've seen 20 inch seems to be the allowable maximum, however I think someone put 23s on their's? Anyway, keep in mind a lot of people with these 20 inch + or 295-315 or 33-35" tires have at the very least a leveling kit on the front.

Mine. I needed a heat gun to stop rubbing but no trimming. Just heated up the plastic of the inner fender and pushed it away from the tire. Small area the size of my palm. Any larger and trimming would have been necessary. The surface that needed bending was vertical so I don't have any rubbing during long wheel travel.

Take a look at the wheels and tires I have for my Titan. I did not have any rubbing nor did I have to have a lift.

I have the same size wheel and tire you do and I have the 2" front lift and still had a small amount of rubbing. What are the offset on those wheels??

Hmm, that is odd. Mine are 12mm offset which means yours stick out more and in turn would cause more rubbing when at full lock. You do have the 305/55 and not the 305/50 right? Are you sure your not rubbing though? You might not even hear it rub. Not that I don't believe you, it just seems weird that with the same size I had some rubbing and I also have a 2" lift.

That is correct. I do have the 305/55. I don't know if this matters or not, but I did order my wheel/tire package from Nissan. Nissan calls it the "Performance Package". The dealership in my area actually installs the wheel/tire package as an upgrade on a couple of the Titans.

QUIKWHIP,

After looking at my truck again, I really don't have an offset on my wheels. It's just about flushed.

I bet that's the difference than. The offset is a huge factor in the fitment. So yours are actually set in a little further making it less likely to rub. Very Cool. It just proves what a difference offset can make.

Hey QWIKWHIP,

Did you adjust your speedo when you put you new wheels/rims on your truck?

RedAlert

I don't believe the OEM wheel/tire has any offset from what I can remember. So to answer your question, you will want as little or no offset in choosing your wheel/tire combo.

No I didn't, the tire diameter difference is less than 2% so it's not enough to be concerned about. You get more variation than that from the factory. lol

And to answer about the offset, the 18" oem wheels have a +25mm offset. Wheel width also has an effect on offset too. Check out this http://350zx.com/tire-wheel.html it will help you determine what is closest to OEM.
