judder at only 1800miles thats sad

I noticed a brake worpage this morning in my new Titan. I had a 04 with 18k on it before and had it in for brakes twice before trading it on a 05. I think the worst part of have this vibration is that it leads to other problems like dash rattles and time off work to take the truck in. Not to mention it make you feel like getting rid of this truck. I know other truck companies have problem too but it still makes me less happy with the truck. Here is what wrote to Nissan hopefully they will contact the dealer and correct the problem.

To Nissan:

I have a 2005 Titan this is my second Titan I owned a 2004 for 1 year. I am starting to have brake rotor problems on the new titan like I had on the 2004.
My question is since I've already been inconvenienced with having to take my first Titan in for brakes twice (and it needed it again at trade in)do I have to go through it all again with the new truck? I would like to have the new style of rotors put on instead of getting the rotors turned then go back in there 2 months later to have it done again. The worst part is that my new truck only has 1800 miles on it. I love my truck but this is getting silly. I was patient with the 2004 because it was Nissans first attempt at a full size truck but the problem should have been fix for the next model year. I trade trucks about every year so how this one gets fix will have a lot to do with if I buy Nissan again. By the way this truck make 3 new Nissans I've bought in under a year and half. I am a member of a Titan forum called titantalk.com I've read a lot of stories on there about brake problem and will be giving everyone on there updates on how I've been treated. Thank you for your time.

What is your build date??? Make sure they aren't on there already. I was lucky....my 05 came with the new rotors etc. But I only have about 1,200 miles on it so it's too early for me to tell........other than the fact they they make less brake dust by far and stop on a dime so far which my 04 did not do with all the brake upgrades. Keep us posted.....you will be happy when you get the newer ones......for how long is the million dollar or should I say $30+K question we all have!!!!!!

My 05 has 2200 miles on it and has a pretty bad judder already. In fact the dealer caused it. I took it in for the soft break peddle TSB and they took and it out and, in his words, "worked the breaks pretty hard". Ever since then I've had the judder.

Well, I've had my 04 for 10.5K miles now and had no sign of the judder until today. I took it in to have something cosmetic fixed and had them check the brakes. They couldn't believe I'd made it this far and, after looking, said I definitely needed a brake job. I've never had judder but they have been stopping less and less well lately. Wouldn't you know that on the way home from the dealer I started to feel the infamous judder for the first time! I swear, I think these trucks just hate dealers or something.

Evidently they think much the same as their owners.

It would seem that way. I hate driving all the way out to my dealer but they've been nice and helpful so far so I think I'll stick with them for now.

I had my first judder problem "fixed" at 18K and now at 18.8K it's back. I asked why turn them and put pads on when it seems that they're too thin as it is. I guess it's a band-aid fix till there are enough real kits out to fix all of our problems.

My first judder just started at 6k with 50/50 city/highway. Truck scheduled for oil/filter, tire rotation 1st Sat in June. Service advisor told me they turn the rotors on your first problem. When you call them with 2nd judder problem they order the new kit. Dealer is Williams in Boyertown, PA. I've had good luck with their service dept in past years. I guess I can live with that deal.

Responce from Nissan North America

Dear Mr. Webster:

Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc. and allowing us the opportunity to be of assistance.

While the ?brake judder? condition that some Nissan Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56 owners have experienced has nothing to do with overall brake performance and is not a safety issue, it does affect customer satisfaction. Our engineers have worked diligently to develop new brake parts to repair vehicles which experience this condition, and these parts are being provided to Nissan and Infiniti dealerships for customer repairs as quickly as possible. In addition, we will be announcing a warranty extension for the repair of brake judder during May 2005, which is as soon as we?ll be able to obtain adequate quantities of the new parts. The warranty extension will be for 36 months or unlimited mileage(whichever comes first) for the Nissan Titan and Armada, and for 48 months or unlimited mileage (whichever comes first) for the Infiniti QX56. Customer satisfaction is extremely important to our company, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We are very confident in our
new line of full-size trucks and SUVs, and we trust this warranty extension will address any concerns our owners may have.

I sent them another email explaining to them they did not answer my question here it is:
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Your response did not answer my question though. The question is do I have to go through all the steps of getting my rotors turn before I can get the dealership to order me the updated rotors? This Judder may not be a safety concern for Nissan but it is for me and also it vibrates other parts loose causing squeaks and noises. I know this because in my last truck I went through it. After having the Judder 3 times that truck was a rattle box with only 18000 miles on it and I don't want that to happen to this truck. I like my truck and I am not bashing your company I just want my truck fixed right the first time without having to go through all the hassles. Can you please send me a letter or an email to take to my dealer letting them know its ok to order the updated rotors? They are telling me that Nissan wants the rotors to be turned first and that will not fix the problem. I bought a Nissan so I wouldn't have to see the dealer as often as I did with my Chevy. I have spent $86,000 buying Nissan in the past 16 Months I think I deserve some real service.

mine did the same at 13k. i took it iin and the dealership here turned my rotors and it is fine now. they said it will happen again but they will continue to fix it. even if they have to replace the rotors. i am in there ever other month for an oil change anyway because i drive so much so it is not a hassle for me to go there.

I don't want to go to the dealer they are bound to have something there I'll have to spend more money on.

If you can hold out for a few more weeks I think your dealer can help you. But I would speak to the service manger and tell them your problem.
I have the newest brake fix on my truck. It looks like the might have solved the problem but time will tell. So far the brake dust is down 80% so that's good news.
