Stock tires wearing

Anyone having problems with stock 18" goodyears wearing unevenly? Mine seem to be wearing on the inside of two tires, one on the front left and one on the back right. Really strange. The tires have been repeatedly balanced and the alignment is dead on. Dealer said there have been some problems with these tires but they don't have any substitute. Ideas?

Also any recommendations for replacements close to the same size? I'm not too excited with the ride or durability of the Goodyears but don't want to look like a 4x4. I'm hoping Michelin will start producing the LTX for this truck but who knows.

Thanks in advance.

Thumbs up stock is bubble gum........sory!

talk to Trikky......he might have some advice......mine are 17" and are yubba-bubba-gum-rubba too!!
Stay away from the Michies...LTX........and cross rotate and include the spare...since it is full size it may give a 20-25% increase in tire life.

I had the exact same problem - however everywhere I took it to a tire shop they said that it is due to too much air and that the drive axel is on the right side.

I have the tire pressure monitor in the dash and it never showed unevenness on the tires - and immediatly after having the new Toyos put on i checked the car computer - not 2 tires had the same pressure according to that, but they all showed 35 on the a manual test.

JD,

Mine wore out all of a sudden - I'd rotated, and on time, too. The front ones on my truck suddenly were 'just burned off' ... I only got 26,000 out of them.

The good news is that although my local area chain tire store sells a good 18" replacement for over a grand for all four tires, I was able to get a set of Continentals as takeoffs from some guy's new Ford. Load range E, no less. The ride and handling is 'crisper'.

But the guy drove out of the Ford dealership three blocks up the street and into Les Schwab's, so they had all the little nubby things still on them. HALF PRICE because somebody spent $38,000 on a Ford and figured they hadn't spent enough already.

You may want to look at the BFG All Terrain TA/KO in a 285/65/18. Looks to be almost the same height, and only about 1" wider.

My tires suck too. They are wearing really fast but i have never had a set of tires last me very long with the way i drive.
Of course my back ones are almost gone but my front ones are also wearing uneven. I figures it was because i take turns really fast sometimes.
I have 15000 miles and havent rotated mine but it would be pointless to do it now because then i would have no tread on the front and thats bad in any condition.

I told my wife to quit doing burnouts! She used to have a Maxima, so she really loves making the Titan go.

My tires are just strange....I have a very odd feathering pattern going on. My tires are at 38psi (technically overinflated) and yet the outside edges of my front tires are feathering front - back. If you run your hand along the siping on the outside edges for any particular block, the leading edge is lower and the upper one sticks up. When rotated to the back it goes away for the most part.

Nissan contends that this is normal wear for a truck, but I have yet to see anyone else with the wear.

Since other people are having varied problems too, I would say the problem is the Tire and not the truck. When I went to a Goodyear store they told me made these tires just for the Titan. I don't know how much research was done on them and such and that may be a factor. According to tirerack there are Continental tires in our size, or you could check out maybe a slightly wider tire since there are probably more of those out there.

Good luck.

These tires were put on for the sake of ride quality and not durability.

I hate having these rim sizes and not being able to find adequate replacements.

if anyone can find a suitable replacement for 265/70R18 tires then please IM me.
