38/15.50r20 20x10 4.5"offset 9" lift Am I crazy

Any insight would be great. I am currently lifted 3" body and 6" procomp. I am looking into tires. I would like the Super Swamper STS radials because I mainly drive onroad. It seems they only come in the 38 and 39" sizes for 20's. Is anyone running a tire anywhere close to this size. I saw quite a few 37/13.50 out there that do not rub with no fender trimming. After doing a body lift I don't think anyone will have a problem trimming a fender a little if you know what I mean. Any insight?

Go pick up this months Sport Truck, or Street Truck?? one of them. There is a Titan Crew Cab running on 40x15.5x22 Toyo's. I think he may be runnin a 12" lift though.

There's also a company that offers fiberglass fenders and bed sides that could definately let you run larger tires without lifting it as much, but I think you'll run into more drivetrain related problems that would make tires that large prohibitive. For one, there are no gear sets out there for our differentials. With tires that large your truck would be a slug. Second, you'd snap driveline parts like they were twigs. 37"s are too big IMHO for a D44 and 1/2 IFS. Unless you're planning on a SFA and rear axle upgrade, I wouldn't even consider it.

With that lift he won't be doing any serious offroading even if he wanted to, so swapping out the front IFS for a live axle isn't necessary. We used to run 35"+ on our little Toyota's with the IFS in the late 80's and early 90's and nothing ever broke. Things will wear quicker, mainly ball joints and bushings, but I seriously doubt anything will break. The D44 gearset will be fine on the road, although you will feel a serious reduction in power. Good luck!

Well, yeah if it's going to be a disco truck, then yeah you probably won't have any problems other than the poor gear ratio and quicker wearing parts.
