Does Nissan have a new policy about brake repairs....?

I took my Titan into the dealer 4 weeks ago to have the judder diagnosed and to get on the list for new parts. They still have not received the parts and now say that Nissan will not allow any short term fixes (ie cutting rotors etc). They can only wait until the new parts come in and install as they become available.

I need to tow a camper on a big trip and want the brake judder dealt with before I go. Any suggestions on how to get them to do something?

I took mine in last week with just under 5k on it. It is starting to get pretty bad especially with the heat here in Texas.
The svc mgr said they cut them once, cut them twice and go from there.
I have not had time to get it in yet.

My dealer just turned my rotors and replaced pads (old TSB work) for the second time. There is no reason why a dealer would refuse to perform at least the old judder fix until the new part arrive. This should include new rotors (not the improved ones) if the old ones have been resurfaced too many times.

grangertitan,

Looks like you have to find another dealer or go back and threaten to sue them when you have an braking accident for them not doing the work when other dealers are still doing the temp fixes or the full fix on early visits.

I hear that more and more dealers are ordering the kits without making the customer wait for multiple visits. It all depends on the dealer and their attitude.

Wish you good luck whichever way you go.

this sounds like a perfect situation for the better business bureau's auto helpline. The dealer has sold a vehicle with an obvious and undisputable defect and refuses to remedy the situation. One phone call from them to the dealership's GM should take care of that situation. Don't let them get away with that CRAP!!

I GOT THE NEW NISSAN TITAN BRAKES INSTALLED ON MAY 23RD. IT WAS THE 4TH TIME THE TRUCK HAD BEEN TO THE SHOP FOR THE TEMPORARY FIX. DEALERSHIP HAD TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO DO THE NEW BRAKE REPAIR TILL 3RD WEEK OF JUNE, HOWEVER, MY BRAKES HAD WORN DOWN SO BAD SINCE THE 3RD TEMPORARY FIX THEY CALLED NISSAN AND HAD THE PERMANENT BRAKES ORDERED AND INSTALLED. FINALLY AFTER ALL THIS TIME THE BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY FIXED.

I had the first rotor turn/pad replace fix early this week. When I picked it up, sev man said he got memo that day to start doing perm repair after one turn. Another 5K and I'll get the new ones, hopefully.

My service advisor has always been straight forward with me. I found him when all the other service departments told me that my modifications to my Maxima voided my warranty on it and wouldn't do any warranty work. He told me that Nissan Consumer Affairs requires the older TSB be done 2 times before they will do the new TSB. He said that they are doing this because the new rotors are in short supply and this action will allow them to trickle supplies in, instead of everyone rushing in at once to get the TSB done.

New Brakes, We'll See

I have a very early 04 LE, the brakes started juddering about 6,000 miles, I now have 16,000 it, and they have gotten pretty bad. I had never gone to the dealer about the problem just because I didn't have time.

Yesterday, I had to go to the dealer because my wife lost my extra key and fob(BTW it's $207 to replace and reprogram on LE). I talked to the serv manage and told him about the brakes and ask him if he was going to make me have them turned twice. He said no, it was just a waste of my time and his.

He put my name on the list for the complete new setup and told me he would call when he got the kits, hopefully in 2 weeks or so.(today is 6/3)

So far so good, but we will see.

Dealer is Action Nissan in Nashville, Tn.

He did say he hadn't heard about the bubbles in the bed liner, I find that hard to believe.

New Policy on Brake Repairs?

I just had my 04, LE, 4X4 in for the 12K service. My brakes were juddering again (fixed 2X previously), so they "resurfaced the rotors" again. During my conversation with the service manager, I was informed that Nissan now has a complete package, i.e. larger rotors, calipers, pads, to correct this problem. However this fix will not be accomplished under warranty because "not all 04 Titans had the brake judder problem." He told me that they will install the new package at the OWNER'S EXPENSE.

Needless to say, I am not happy with that bit of information.

Has anyone else been told this by their dealer / service manager?

That sounds like BS to me. every 04 titan has the same brakes on it(old rotors). Now to say that not all 04 titans are having the problem is just BS, eventually they will all get the problem. It just depends on the type of driver you are, some will take longer than others but they will all get the problem. I have never heard any dealer say it was an out of pocket expense.

Just had my rotors turned for 1st time on Saturday with 6k. Service advisor told me they are expecting more kits by end of June. He said my judder will probably start again within 3k or next oil change. At that time they will install the new kit. Their dealership policy is one turn on rotors and next time the new kit is installed. I can live with that.

Brakes issue, let me see....

I had my first brake repair at (about) 4,800 miles. This was shortly after the permanent fix came out. I was told, I got lucky, they had an additional kit in, and would get mine done right, the first time. I was happy with that...I checked the part numbers against what was listed here, and it was the new parts.

Well, now I'm having the shakes again, at 9,500 miles. It's starting to feel like the old brakes did.

Anyone else with the new brakes having any issues?
