325/65 Mickey Thompson ATZ

I have the 2" PRG kit and tried to fit them to my factory 18x8. No Go. Tire Kingdom couldn't make the bead seat and said I would need at least a 18X10 to do so.
We took the tire, even though it wasn't seated, and checked for fitment up front. The heat gun trick would definetly be required but...........the inside of the tire was within 1/4" of the upper A-arm. Kind of stuck right now and don't know what to do. I really wanted the 35s but don't want the rims sticking way out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Heart breaking because it sure did look good while we were fitting it.

Those are way too wide for a stock 18" rim. Its a 13" wide tire and an 8" wide rim. The tire is 34.63" in diameter also. Mine rub with the factory level Armada and mine are 12.2" wide and 33.2" tall. You'll need more than a PRG to fit those. 35" is doable, but width makes as much difference in fitting for rubbing as height. You could get Nitto Mud Grapplers in 35x12.5x18 They are 12.2" wide(305) and 35" tall. BFG also has 35x12.5x18 but it is a little wider at the full 12.5". But realize, a 325 tire wants a 9" wide rim minimum, 10" preferred. The stock rims are 8" wide. I've seen people cheat and go 1/2" lower. You stand a chance to blow the bead and you probably won't have even wear, but they will probaly work. 1" smaller is too much.

Clearance of the fenders was not an issue lock to lock. It was width. Are you saying a 9 inch rim may work?

Yes. I use 9" on mine. As for clearance, did you turn the wheel while driving on them or on a lift. Different deal. I had no rubbing with mine on the lift and almost ripped off my fender wells on the ground. The width was the reason. Tires change shape when you put weight on them and the body and suspension flexes when you torque it with driving. I had worse rubbing in reverse than in forward for example. 9" wide is the minimum with 10" wide being preferred for that width. But remember, if you are going to go up in rim width, you need to change rims. This means you aren't locked into a diameter or tire. You can pretty much get what you want. Don't overlook 17" and 20" rims as they have far more off-road choices in tires than 18" does. That's why I changed.

You are gonna have rubbing at the FRAME in the right wheel well also, I have PRG 2" in front and 1" rear, with BFG 35x12.5 MTs and I have rubbing issues with the frame while doing full right hand turn in an incline situation...

Even tough I can live with the rubbing for a while, I need to eventually upgrade to 4" of lift up front minimum to reduce the rubbing to at least while offroading...

Re: 325/65 Mickey Thompson ATZ

Alright, finally have them mounted. I had to do it on 18x9 gear alloy with a medium offset. Now I have the 45-55 mph steering wheel vibration. This gets old fast. Funny thing is that when I get over 60 mph the vibrations go away. Anyone know what is going on here. I know they balanced fine. The tires zeroed out with less than a half ounce on all but one wheel.

Re: 325/65 Mickey Thompson ATZ

Pro comp makes a 325/60/R18 tire now that can fit on 8" wide rims. I want them!! Nos sure of a price, but its a really nice A/T tire.
