tire pressure sensor question

I got new rims put on last thursday and had the sensors tranfered to the new wheels. the next day my right front was flat, the seal around the sensor was leaking. i took it to a local tire shop to replace the vavle stem til i could get back to the place i bought the rims from. i thought it might be easier to just get chrome valve stems put in and pull all the pressure sensors but was told by law the sensors have to be in place if the vehicle is equipped. they fix it for free with a new grommet on the sensor and all is fine now. my question is has anyone heard of this law?

Re: tire pressure sensor question

I don't know about TX, but it's not the law here in NE. I wouldn't worry about it. If you took them all out how would they know that the vehicle is equipped with them?

Re: tire pressure sensor question

In the newer titans (2005-2006) the tire pressure sensors do not seat in the standard holes in wheels...

Either the wheel needs to be machined or larger grommets need to be used in the tire pressure sensor...

Re: tire pressure sensor question

I am in TX and I took mine completely out. Just set it so the light goes off and take them all out and the light should stay gone. I have had mine like this for over a week now and driven about 500 miles and no light.

Re: tire pressure sensor question

These things are a bigger pain than they're worth. My light always stays on and the damn buzzzer goes on every time its cold outside. And the one time the pressure got real low on a tire (like almost flat low) the damn buzzer didn't sound. These things suck!

Have you taken any trips more than 45 minutes or so? Mine didn't get set off for a few weeks until I was headin down the highway for about an hour, hasn't turned off since.
