Anyone get some really cheap tires on their trucks from the factory? Well most of u will say that all of u did but I mean in tire life. Ive had my truck for 15000 miles about 1 year and 1 month. Its a 2004 LE king cab and I got the 18" wheels with the Goodyear tires. Theyre pretty much all bald. ALL FOUR! Ive never gotten them rotated or anything but it doesnt matter cuz theyre all bald pretty much the same but its all 4. I heard we got a warranty on the tires and have set up an appointment to get them checked at a goodyear place cuz my dealer said I should call cuz that was pretty weird and they couldnt really do anything. SO, anyone else got this problem OR used the tire warranty?

This is from warranty book: "A tire has delivered its full original tread life and this warranty ends when the treadwear indicator become visible, regardless of age or mileage". So goodluck with Goodyear.

The sbsolute worst thing about the whole situation is that I Like the Factory rims. I can get the Goodeyars again or the Cross Terrains. The Goodyears have ZERO mileage warranty even if paying more to get them from Goodyear. The Cross Terrains are Michelins worst ever. They want the same price for them that I paid for the last set of LTX M/S. Which are guarenteed to get you 75K plus miles. I did anyway. The C/T do have 65K warranty, so I will likely end up paying the few extra sheckles to get them. I wish someone made a Good tire for these 18's.

My Goodyear SR-As are about 70% done and that is at 22000km or 14000miles. They are a POS. And OEM don't have a tread life warranty, only a bad tire warranty. I have heard (and I got jumped all over when I said!) that the Cross Trainers are garbage. I bought the BFG All Terrain A/Ts. I don't know how they will work, but they come in the right size, are LT tire (better for a truck) and are snow rated.

Just passed the 57,000km mark!
Born on 03/04
Now it is up for sale - or at least the BFGs and the Cap!
Yes - the stock tires - both in 17's and 18's appear to be POS!!
I had the 17" BFG Rugged Trails and they barely lasted 22k miles. Now have the Nitto's but with only about 1k on em - love them so far. Now we'll se how long they last.
Wife has the 18" conti's on her Armada. With 14k on em they are at the wear bars and ready to be replaced - plus they ride like crap. Will likely go with Michelin Cross Terrain SUV's as they come with a 60k warranty.
All I can say is we don't drive crazy fast or push our vehicles so my frank opinion is they are POS. Now, the argument here is that my friend has the newer F150 that came with 18" BFG Rugged Trails. Work truck used for landscaping and with 30+k miles on em they are still going strong... go figure.
Maybe it's a conspiracy by the american tire manufacturers to keep the big 3 up and foreign down... ha! How's that for a conpsiracy theory?

My 04 has the Goodyears and I have close to 12,000 on them. Maybe 20% done. They still look brand new. I think I could get another 24,000 out of them. I did rotate them at 7,500 miles. I even smoke them at the track occasionally.

I taught the cross terrains were really good tires
They are good tires. They don't wear like Iron, that's all. They are gripping they want 75k on a tire. That means the tire is hard as a rock. I get 15k on my vette tires if I'm lucky and I'm thankful. Its only 1500 for a new set on the vette. Sorry but no pity here. The Cross terrains are very good and far superior to the stock in every way. They just don't get 75K miles, probably more like 40K would be a good guestimate.
My Goodyears have just over 17100 miles on them and still have about 30%-40% tread left on them. I have rotated them at around 7000 miles and 14000 miles. I pull a 2000-2500 pound trailer on a nearly daily basis. As far as OEM tires go, I am pretty happy with these tires. As far as replacement time, I will probably go with the Michelin Cross Terrains with 65K mile warrranty, as I'm not about to buy the Goodyears with a nonexistant warranty.

My old 2000 SE 4X4 Xterra had BFG Long Trail tires on it and I hated them. They still had 1/4" of tread at 50,000 miles but that tread was so hard, I was always spinning out with no traction.
Although I don't like Firestone tires, Bridgestone tires are made differently and to a higher caliber. I asked several people I know who had the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos because this was the highest rated Off Road tire everywhere. It even beat most all weather tires in normal traction on dry and wet pavements. Really loved them, it was like I had spikes on the tires regardless if it was dry pavement in the summer or snow covered pavement in the winter.
Was happy the Titan's Off Road tires were Rugged Trail instead of Long trail after my experience but those Rugged trails weren't impressive as I did seem to lose traction quite a bit even in 4WD. Nothing compared to the traction I had with the Xterra and the AT Revos. The Rugged Trails were lasting good as I had 22,000 miles on them and they still had a good amount of tread to get at least 35,000 miles out of them.
Now I have the Pathy and it comes with the same Long Trails I had on the Xterra. Hek, they're almost identical except the Pathy's are a bit bigger. The Xterra had 265/70R15 while the Pathy has 265/70R16. The biggest difference is there's no squeal going around corners. The previous longtrails squealed terribly. With the Xterra, the tires did good until you got past the intial tread layer, the following layer wasn't worth crap.
Now here's the thing, I went to tire rack because they're the best store for tire prices and information. What I found was that the Rugged Trail rated worse by consumers in every catagory than the Long Trails! The Long Trails actually rated quite high. I'm thinking they changed the making of the Long Trails as the 2000 edition was terrible and Tire Rack had them rated by consumers to be the worst available.
Since I don't feel like dropping another $800 on tires when I have perfectly good tires, although far from the best IMO, I'll just wait until they die. I won't wait 50,000 miles on these like I did on the others. As I said, the tread wear means nothing if the most inner tread layer is stiff and hard, and can't get good traction.
BTW, on my Xterra I rotated the tires every oil change where I rotated the tires every other oil change with the Titan. I think I'll go back to every oil change as the Xterra's Long trails were wearing very well even if they didn't have any traction.

No pity here either, good tire usually = better grip and fewer miles for more money. I'll be lucky to get 15000 out of mine with the way I drive but I'll spend that entire 15000 on the road and none of it in the ditch. Happy Thanksgiving.

I wouldn't believe a tire that is any good would go 75,000 miles, they would have to be very hard and not very good traction wise. The Michelins are a good tire, they won't go 75,000 miles, my dad just put the second set of the Michelins on his Durango, he got about 40,000 miles on the first set which I think is pretty good, I had a set of Bridgstone Dueler HT's on my old Ram and only got about 18,000 miles out of them. The Michelins are very good in wet/snow but not an off roading tire.
After 23,000 miles and 3 flats and almost bald tires I got rid of the POS BFG Ragged Trails. Worst tire I have ever seen in my life. BFG is making a bad name for themselves with this tire. I now have the BFG AT KO's. Had them on my last truck after 60,000 miles still had an 1/8" of tread left.
