How are your polished aluminum wheels holding up?

Just wondering how everyone's polished aluminum wheels are holding up and what your doing to keep them in good shape. Have a set on the way and wondering if I should have them clearcoated before putting them on the truck. Wheels will more than likely be left on year round and will see salty roads in the winter. Am I going to be able to care for them w/ wax and polish or should I clearcoat? If I do clearcoat will the wheels lose some of their shine? Any insight is much apreciated

Thanks for the response. I've pretty much decided to give them a go as is and if they start to look like crap I'll have them powdercoated before putting my next set of tires on.

Re: How are your polished aluminum wheels holding up?

I've had polished wheels on all my trucks. I've never done anthing besides wash them every month or two and they haven 't corroded or anything. the set on my truck was caked in mud for over 3 weeks and pressure washed them off and ran them through the local car was and they are bling again.
Everyone says polished are high maintenance, but I don't spend any time on mine and they stay shiny.

I'm in snow country and they are a P.I.T.A. I got one of those power balls and it helps a little, but not like old fashion elbow grease. I'll wait til weather get's better and polish them up all nice.

Mine Have About 25k On Them And Are Holding Up Very Well. The People That Polished Them Told Me Not To Put Any Whitewall Cleaner Or Armoral On Them. Just Clean Them With Soap And Water.

Re: How are your polished aluminum wheels holding up?

I polished my chrome rims the other day with the Mothers ball and it did a decent job. Still have some trouble spots that I need to address. The one question I have is how do I get that chrome polish off the tires? I haven't tried to clean it off yet, just wondering what everyone uses to get that stuff off.

Sorry for jacking the thread a little.
