this gives me ideas!!! how about helium, that should make the tire lighter right? No but it does sound like a good idea for those that dont check their tire pressure regularly, but i make it a chore to check my wifes and my tires 1 time a week, because low tire pressure is also dangerous

well it also gets rid of moisture in the tire and it doesnt heat up quite like air. There are actually some companies out there that make valve stem wheels so you can fill the nitrogen and pure the ait at the same time
All aircraft tires use nitrogen, it is less effected by heat and altitude than oxygen, and it contains no water. I have access to a nitrogen cart at work, but have never bothered to fill my tires with it.

Yes, This is what is used in our birds(HH-60 Seahawk) tires and Main Rotor blades. I'm pretty sure because it's an Inert gas. Like Helomech is saying.

Rumor has it Americas Tire (aka Discount Tire) is now filling with Nitro
I don't know about where you live, but they are not doing that here. I was just in there yesterday to do some stuff (used to work there for a couple of years when I was in college so they let me still do some stuff so I don't pay labor) but they are still using air.

I almost forgot about the m/r blades on the sikorskys (spelling) having nitrogen. I worked on hawks, and 61's a bit. Have done lots of S-76 work, but the 76's don't have nitrogen in the blades. We have emergency floats on all our aircraft and they use nitrogen.

I wish there were some type of emergency float on the 60's, I really hate flyin over water, especially at night, As soon as this bi*ch hits the water it turns upside down and sinks.

All our aircraft have them and they really don't weigh much. We are required to have the under FAR 135, for carrying passengers over water. They are a B***ch to pack back in the little bag they stay in. We have to inflate them every 6 months to check for leaks. The S-76 is the worse ones to pack, it uses 4 nitrogen bottles to blow them up.

Helium was the rage a few years ago for bicycle tires. It required expensive rims, as helium is more prone to escape than air.
Ingersol Rand makes the machine that does it. I know because my brother works for them and markets the machine. He personally delivered one to Jay Leno.... Jay's garage is SICKKKKKKK
Anyway, i know all costco's have the machine. I have not done it on my titan, but my bro did his g35 6mt at work, and got over 40k on the OEM tires.... Not sure if that was due to driving habits or the nitrogen really help, but I havent heard of ANYONE else getting that many miles on the OEM tires.
