Hi guys, Ive had my 17x10" black wheels for a week now, they are going back to teh dealer, just couldnt get rid of the vibration @ highway speeds...
I just couldnt handle the rougher ride the wider 17x10" wheels made compared to the oem 17x7.5" wheels...
Why is it that the wider wheels gave me a rougher ride? while offroading it feels that the shocks are busted with the wider wheels, it just bounces up and down and shackes and rattles the truck...
To bad the wheels looked amazing...

a wider tire grips more of the road. also the tire pressure and car alignment are a factor on road feel.
the vibration is most likely from them not balancing properly too. that's a 35 inch tire w/ a lot of sidewall and weight compared to stock. just a little bit off in tire balance the more pronounced at higher speeds.

You need to have them balanced correctly. Bigger, meatier tires are going to have less symetry to them. Find a good tire shop and they should fix the problems.
I suggest you get them rebalanced. That sounds like the cause of the problem. Not at a discount place not at where you bought them( they FFed it up once already). They will let anybody stick a weight on a tire. I use to work at a custom wheel and tire place. And he also sold OEM wheels used. He got lots of bent wheel referals from some of the tire shops in town. 7 out of 10 times is was not a bent wheel but a very poorly balanced one. Buy the way nice chioce of wheels. I'm still looking for something I like.
I would get them rebalanced and if you can find a shop with a road force machine have them go that route. That way it may be a tire or wheel or just poor balancing.

The same thing happened to me. I had the stock XE 17-7.5's wheels with BFG 35-12.50-17's and aside for initial balancing problems they worked great and did not rub the fender well at all. Now I have 17-9 PC extreme alloys, my stearing wheel shimmy is back in force, I can't seem to get the balance right and seeing that they are solid black they keep getting chiped and scratched every time I go back. The fender liners are screwd now from the rubbinig, it is getting real frustrating, but they look good and that all that metters...Right? lol..

It's better to have it and not need it, Than need it and not have it!"

Those wheels looks hot! Don't give up yet.
I don't think the ride quality is due to the wheels when talking about firmness...Those BFG have a stiff side wall when compared to the soft OEM wall. My Dad went to the 6ply BFG on his suburban after the factory's wore out. They were noticeably firmer.
Bummer about the vibrations...did they bubble balance them or computer spin? Might be just a bad tire too? It happens.
I went to a GY Fortera 285/60/18 which is wider/shorter than stock I like it better less harsh bumbs and better steerign response...however the technology of construction has alot to do with it I'm sure.

Chances are, they are heavier. More unsprung weight.

Ive had the BFG 35x12.5r17 tires on the oem 17" wheels for more than 15k and the ride is great being that they are mud terrains with a much larger sidewall...
Now with the new wheels the ride has suffered alot, tried rebalancing the tires in several shops with no succes. Yes the new wheels are about 10lbs heavier each...
The ride while offroad is crap, the truck is much more firmer and the washboard dirt roads feels like im in Iraq...

Now we are on the same boat... I rather have a quality ride instead of the crappy one this new wheels are giving me, I had to remove the mudflaps, havent done any cutting yet to stop the rubbing but it looks like its gonna be alot, now if I ever want to change tires and go with the Toyos or Nittos, since they have a larger tread widht I will have to do much more cutting to avoid rubbing...
But this wheels look amazing... and for $700 out the door I couldnt find a better deal anywhere else...

I just ordered 18x9 MB motoring Precise +10mm offset in metal machined. Got them for $90.00 per wheel. Awsome price. Gonna have them installed this saturday with 325x60r18 Toyos. CANT WAIT!!!!!!!
That is why i got rid of my 17x10's and went to my procomp 17x9's
the ride and no rubbing is so much nicer,,,,,the 10's stuck out 1 3/4" farther and made my 315/70's rub and i think the extra leverage on the suspension made the front seem loose,,,,now it feels tite again.....
