MT MTZ on stockers

I though I've seen a couple people running 35" M.T. MTZs on the stock 17s. Can anyone confirm that? MT have a minimum rim width of 8.5", and the stockers are 8", so how is this happening?

Couple things, first is that the OEM Off Road rims are actually 7.5" wide, not 8". And as far as the tires fitting, yeah they will fit, and probley not ever be a problem, but they are just not within the "reccommended" specs. The only time you would really have a problem would be if you aired down real low, then there is a greater chance of the tire coming off the bead. So am I saying go ahead and use them..... no, am I saying they won't work..... no. It's just a judgement call you have to make. But, another big factor is the tire warranty. If they are not on there "reccommended" size rim then they won't warranty them if anything happened.

Re: MT MTZ on stockers

Has anyone even really tried to use the tire warrantee? The one time I tried they told me it was a road hazard.

The only problem I can see, I have 35/12.50's on my OR wheels and they have a pretty good crown to them. The tires will wear mostly on the center of the tread unless you air down to flatten it out. But then, you are driving yourself bonkers with the damn tps's going off all the time.

How bad will this affect the life off the tire... ?

Hmmm... pretty good point on the thread wear. I guess to be on the safer side I'll probably stay away from that tire until I get wider rims one day. I would hate to have to keep an eye on the air pressure all the time.
