Black Off Road Wheels

Just finished my wheels had them powder coated Gloss Black. This weekend I painted up the silver center caps to match, I scuffed them up with a green 3m pad and used Duplicolor Truck and SUV spray paint in universal black and then followed them up with a few coats of Duplicolor Truck and SUV spray paint acrylic high gloss clear. Seems like a perfect match. I like they came out now I just need to mount my BFG MTs in 285 70 17 and I'll be all set for winter.
Black 17" OR Package Rims.

Re: Black Off Road Wheels

looks sweet i was going to go that route but "they" said with 35's the tires would be to wide for that rim and they tire would wear really quick.

Re: Black Off Road Wheels

Some more pics decided to just throw them on as I'll be gone most of next month.

Poor Lighting and overcast so not the best pics.

Re: Black Off Road Wheels

I agree, the wheels look very sharp! Have you painted your step rails black as well?

Those are sick looking too. How do you clean them? How much does something like this cost? Also, I like the little burgers still silver. Sharp wheels.

Re: Black Off Road Wheels

looks nice man. i have stock 18's on my OR. the powdercoater here in town is getting a new process in a couple weeks that can powdercoat them chrome. it's not an actual chrome plating, but it supposedly looks just like it (and would be more durable). i'm waiting to see when he gets it in to see what it looks like, but i'd like to get my stock wheels done up. how much did you pay to get yours powdercoated?

i got the wheels and paint for free. the body shop told me if they charged for it, it would cost about 90 per wheel. i wouldent recomend it though if you off road im already seeing some scraches from bushes but it can be buffed out. you take care of them just the same as your car. it is the same paint they paint cars with. id highly recomend this method if you dont offroad. the paint is supposed to be able to withstand 200+ degrees according to the body shop. they acheived the look by painting regular black which is glossy and then clear coating them flat. and that silver piece just pops out then they paint the cap and put the crome badge back on after it dries.
