Opinions needed on tires- Michellin Cross Terrain SUV
I went to my local discount tire to check pricing on tires for my Miata and '04 Titan CC 2wd. I figured I could get a better deal if I bought for both cars at the same time. I ordered a set of Azenis RT-615's for the Miata. They offered me a good deal on take-offs from a new Lincoln Navigator they had for my Titan. Not exactly what I was looking for, but a really good deal- only $58 each, for tires that list at $181 each new. I researched the tires, and they seem to be a good all around street tire, with good on road grip, low noise, and very long life. The only real negative is that they are one size narrower then stock- 255/70/18 Vs. 265/70/18. The specs on the tire Vs. the stock Goodyear show it is only 4/10 of an inch difference, 32.2" Vs. 32.6" and the difference in revs per mile is 640 Vs. 643. My plan initially was to go with a bit wider tire, a 285 and try to keep it under $125 a tire. I bought the Michellins, but they are not installed yet. What do you think, a good match for the truck and a good deal? The truck is my wife's daily driver, low noise, good road manners, and long life are priorities. I tow occasionally. I figure at $58 each, the money I saved would pay for the Miata tires.

The Michelins are great! I only had them on for 2 months before I sold my AR wheels with the tires to get my lift going. They are awesome on handling and makes no noise at all. Funny though, after I removed them and put back my old BFG Rugged Trails, I found out that the Michelins were actually better than the stock ones

so what you are saying is.... the miata is YOUR daily driver???
My wife works one mile from home, I have a 30+ mile commute. My daily driver is an '05 Subaru Legacy GT. The Miata is the autocross/ runabout car. I've got too many cars, also a '96 Eclipse GSX, a '93 Eagle Talon, and my '92 Galant VR4. That will make a fun daily driver when it's done, 400hp sleeper commuter. It is kind of funny seeing the Miata parked next to the Titan in the driveway.

Thanks for the input. I usually try to buy the best tires I can afford for my cars, but that deal was too good to pass up.
