37s vs 35s

hey everyone, i'm debating as to whether or not to go w/ 37s after the new year, just had one question:

I expect there to be added stress on the drivetrain, but would that be alleviated w/ the new gears that should be available? I already expect decreased braking, due to the weight of the tires, but i don't know what to expect with 37s and the new gears coming out...input greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Re: 37s vs 35s

The gears will help with acceleration but the wear and tear wont really change, its still a lot more rotating mass and unsprung weight.

Cool, thanks a lot. 37s are out of the question, i don't need any unecessary wear/tear.

Re: 37s vs 35s

Some 35s weigh more than some 37s.

Both the 37" BFG AT KO and the BFG MT KM, only weigh 65 lbs. where the 35" Toyo M/Ts weigh in at 83 lbs., (for the 12.5" x 17" sizes).

With one of those really tall spindle lifts, plus c.o. and spacers to bring them up greater than 8", the BFG 37s would look great, and because of their lighter weight, the extra diameter would not be any worse stress than a Toyo 35.

Btw, the BFG AT is only 36" dia. and the BFG MT is only 36.5" dia.

Yup... I noticed a big difference from the 35's Toyo M/Ts I had and my BFG 37 AT’s I have now... The toyo's are pig's in weight... but are just as quite as the BFG AT’s.

Re: 37s vs 35s

well, I found some Kumho M/Ts with a pretty nice tread pattern, and in the 37x1250x20, they weight around 84lbs; toyo M/Ts come in at 84ish, while the 37" toyos weight roughly 95lbs. So I guess i'll be getting the Kumhos around the same time the new gears come out.

Re: 37s vs 35s

If you are worried about weight and tearing up stough don't do 37s. Look around and compare tires. Don't do 325 65 18s either they weigh a ton. I am buying a set of Dunlop Mud Rovers and they are rated at 56lbs each. Only 9 lbs over stock and 11 lbs lighter then BFG muds and a/ts
