Question TPMS -Do you need them?

I didn't have Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors put in my rims and tires. No light came on. Everthing seems to work just fine. Is this strictly a safty feature? The TPMS's are kind of spendy. Are they worth it?

They're a safety feature. For me they're worth it. They HAVE worked for me on mine. Since I tow, they're just that little bit of added peace of mind.

To each their own though. Lots don't have them and don't care that they don't. You can get them used BTW for about 100 bucks.

I second that, I'm glad I have them. I was running down the freeway (with my wife and baby) at about 75 mph in the left lane when the warning sounded. My wife said, "Maybe it's another slow leak." "Maybe," I say, "but I should probably pull over and check." Just as I start slowing down and moving across 5 lanes to the right shoulder the left rear tire goes completely flat. Even though I'm a professional driver (over a million miles) and was prepared for it, it still got a little squirelly on me before I got it stopped. I have no doubt that the early warning saved me from a spin or worse.
