9" width with +10mm offset is almost a Factory 5.5" backspacing, and 5.5" b.s. is key at avoiding fender rubs, but at 9" width they might rub anyhow. 8" with the same b.s. sticks out an inch less, so less chance of rubbing at the pinch weld.
At the CST site they state "DESIGNED TO FIT 305/70/17 TIRES w/ 8" WIDE WHEELS (MAX 4.75 BACKSPACE)" So they are suggesting pushing the entire rim out by 3/4".
I believe that they might have made a misprint, or perhaps they don't calculate backspacing correctly, because some guys run 35x12.5 on OEM rims with 5.5" backspacing, and the PRG Spindle kits that use the CST spindles.
