Shopping for Black 22s

I seem to be pretty limited on my choices & am having a tough time finding the models that will fit, that are not on back order. I want all black wheels & think I've settled on the Demoda Intimidator II, but they're on a 60 day back order.

I looked at a couple other models like the Monopolys & the American Racing Trench, but I think a six spoke wheel will show too much of my brakes. If I could afford Brembos now that would be cool, but that ain't happenin.

I've been lookin on the internet, but I'm pretty sure I'll give the Discount Tire down the street my business. Their prices are pretty competetive & they've always treated me real good. The manager told me he could install & program a TPMS for about $100 total, he said the prices have dropped considerable in the last year.

I think I'll go with the Kuhmo Ecsta STX 305/40/22s, I hope the price for 22s comes down before I have to replace them. I slap the stock tires back on the truck from Nov-March. I still got more research to do, anyone know of any all black 8 spoke 22" wheels, or even fat 6 spoke, that will fit my truck?

Re: Shopping for Black 22s

I would be all over the KMC wheels if my truck were a 4x4, I think those wheels look awesome on lifted trucks. I plan on lowering my truck eventually & am looking for something a little smoother, more refined. The Dominators are cool, but the only go up to 20".

There's just not a big selection for all black 22", I don't want the polished lip. This is a pic of the one I'll probable get.

Re: Shopping for Black 22s

Those are sweet, but they don't make the offset I need in 22". I'd be all over them if they did. My truck a Smoke XE KC, so I want to keep it black.

I just got a set of 22" wheels and were considering the same tires. I did a little researching and saw where a couple of people were having problems with control while driving with the kuhmo's. It may have been a few isolated events but just check into it before you make the leap. I decided to go with Nitto 420s 305/45/22"s and so far they seem to handle really well. I don't remember the posts off hand regarding the Kuhmo's but I do remember that Got_Titan was one who had them and did not care for them. Good luck in whatever you choose. Here is a pick of mine.

i get a lot of comments on my black wheels. I'm not a blinger any more.

Schrup, you can look up wheels that are not black and get them custom painted or powdercoated black. your selection will increase in that manner.

It's been my vision to have black wheels all along, that's why I bought the Smoke XE. I've already had my rear bumper color matched to my truck. If I wanted chrome wheels, I probable would have bought a Red Alert SE or LE. I'll do a little more research on my tire selection.

rcantu, your wheels look great, but I'm not willing to go through the hassle of powder coating & such. Jbutler, after seeing your KMCs, I'll have to reconsider those if the Demodas are too much of a hassle to get. Your truck looks great & that is a nice tint, the glass shop said they couldn't get mine that dark, because of the legality.

Thanks for the compliment. Here is a link to another post with some more pics of my truck. I tried to show the fitment since they have a +12 offset.

Re: Shopping for Black 22s

I agree with the color choice. I got a smoke Titan also with the plan of getting all black wheels. You should check out the Mazzi Hulks. They have a chrome lip though. I think Im gonna get them or the American Racing Dominators.
