Re: Anyone ever buy "blem" tires?
We used to sell tires through our shop, and I've owned several sets of 'blems'. It's a good way to save some serious bucks on an otherwise expensive set of tires. If you've got a good tire shop with a good connection to the distributor, you can often order a set of blems in most anything.
Blems are warrantied against defects, just like the regular production run of the tires; however you must be prepared to pay the difference between the blem price and the full retail if you have to have one replaced under warranty.
They are functionally the same tire, they only have a cosmetic defect. This will be stuff like the white lettering isn't white and so on. By law, they cannot be sold if they have a known functional defect.
Hope that helps.

Finally found an appropriate sig pic. It's good at least through August...
I worked for a Goodyear tire store for many years and an independent tire co. for years before I changed professions. Blems are cosmetic imperfections. At times, tire companies will stamp tires as blems when they have too much inventory on a particular tire that they want to move out. I'd buy a blem in a heart beat!
I have an ATV shop and buy "blems" all the time from warehouses for resale. I sell them as "blems" at a cheaper price and never had a problem with them. I'm sure it would be the same with any tire.
They can, and have in the past. Awesome little company but I just happened to see these blems while I was browsing the 4WP site so I thought I'd ask. Just checking prices everywhere right now. 35-12.5-18 is a tough size to get a discount on.
