Replacing Stock Tires Soon - Any Recommendations?

I have an '06 4x4 BT-Off Road. I'll be replacing the OEM tires pretty soon.

I'm keeping the stock 17 inch off road wheels and will replace the existing tires with stock size tires. I'm fairly happy with the original tires, so I might just go with a direct replacement. But, if someone has found an awesome A/T tire that performs well in rain and is quiet on the road, I'd like to hear recommendations.

BFG or Toyo A/T's....

I am also planning on changing tires soon. I have always been a BFG man. I usually run the AT/KO's. They are quiet concidering what they can do. I do have to admit they ride a little harsher than most stock tires. I have run a set for over 40k and I don't always rotate the way I should. If you have snow or need to go off road every once in a while, these tires will get you where you want to go. There are a lot of recomendations on this site for the Revo's. I have never really looked at them before but they do have a good price, seem to have a decent tread, and many claim a long tread life. I will give these a good look as well before I make my final choice. Good luck.

I also recomend looking into the revos. I have them and really like them, plus they have a 75k treadlife warranty (at least mine do)

I put the BFGoodrich A/Ts on mine with the stock offroading wheels and I loved them. I live in Colorado so you name it, I have driven in it. Dry, wet, rain, snow, mud, dirt. I was very pleased with the tires. I would highly recomend. As you can see, I have Pro Comps now, I just wanted a beefyier* tire for the lift kit. The rugged trails were great tires as well. The only reason I switched from those to the ATs is because of the snow. If you are not planning on being in snowy condtions or any serious off road situations, the rugged trails should be fine. But the ATs are nice and in my opion are worth the extra money.

I'd recommend the Toyo H/T's. They are much quieter than stock tires and have helped cornering a lot, but are a little stiffer than stock. I haven't really had a chance to test them in the rain, but they seem like they'd to pretty well. I know they aren't A/T's, but I figured I might as well throw them out there.

These Firestone Destination A/Ts have great reviews and have been bulletproof on my wife's Liberty. And can't beat them on the price.

I have the toyo open country m/t's in 295/70-17, and they are great. I can't speak for any others but for mud tires they are very quiet on the road and are showing almost no signs of wear at over 10k miles.

Helomech, I am getting some Nitto Terra Grapplers in 295/70/17 soon. Do your Toyos rub at all (I have the RF 2" Coilover) and how much did they lift your truck would you say? I love the Toyos, but needed something a little less $$.

I like the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2, but they are a bit $spendy$. I also like the Toyo Open Country M/T, which is an awsome tire, but also not cheap. I would go with one of these if $$ isn't a factor.
$$ is a factor for me so I am going with the Nitto Terra Grappler which is also a great tire and I'm told it does well in wet conditions.

I have the level kit and no rubbing at all. The measure 33" tall, but I think the stock tires were about 32" tall, so I didn't notice it being any higher. So far they have been great tires.

if you are staying w/ the stock OR size and are concerned w/ wet traction and quiet ride (your words), i really cant see getting anything but the bridgestone dueller A/T revo's.<-link

Looks like you and I have essentially the same truck. Thanks for the feedback.

I drive a LOT of highway miles (about 30,000 annually) and use 4wd maybe five or six times a year to pull a boat out at a river house our family has. The boat ramp is not paved...just sand and mud. So, I'm biased toward a good road tire with some occassional off-road traction needed.

I'm narrowing the choice to the BFG All Terrain and your recommended Bridgestone.

Since it sounds like you don't do too much off-road, the Bridgestone P285 sounds like your best bet. It's about 14 or 15 pounds lighter the the BFG AT KO in a LT285, so you won't lose 1 mpg, (anyhow, that's how much I lost when I switched). BFG KOs are awesome, but the BS P285 sounds like a better move. Btw the Revos are now also available in a LT285, but they are so new there's not any decent long term feedback.

edit: One thing I should have mentioned about the BFG AT KO, is that mine got very slick in the rain this past year at 33,000 miles, (with about 10K miles of tread left). I don't recall seeing others mention it though. Tried sandbags, but even at 320 pounds of sand in the bed it was still bad, I replaced them with Toyo M/Ts.
