Turning them probably won't do it as they must be at least 94/100 of an inch thick per spec. You're probably looking at some aftermarket units. You can get cheaper ones by going with the solid rotors from your local parts store. Or take the plunge and buy some slotted rotors. There's dozens of online places to pick some up.
Thanks for really narrowing it down BB <sarcasm>, they tried turning them, but wasn't enough there.
Don't you have some aftermarket ones, that will work with my 17" wheels? I hate to buy some generic ones, cause it will be the same story in another 20k miles.
I just had mine turned, as my rotors didn't warp. Only cost me $12 plus new pads to do mine. I've seen some nice ones at Performancebrakes dot com. Others have ordered them through Tirerack and gotten a good deal cuz of this site. I think you're still talking a couple hundred though. Nothing like $50 for plain rotors... Sorry.
Sorry for your troubles, my advice....don't move to new york. Here if you take it in for inspection and it fails, they can keep your truck until you make repairs. It can make for a very bad day

WTF?!?!?! They can fail your car for the brakes pulsing (being warped)? Prime example of our government overstepping just a wee bit. Soon they'll fail you because your vehicle has bad mpg or is the wrong color. I can't believe that. Test drives of vehicles for inspections, sh!t, I am moving to wherever you are and going to work in a Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo dealership as the inspections dept. I'll wring those things out and find some problems!!

(f) Road test. Perform road test and reject if one or more of the following apply:
(1) The parking brake fails to exhibit normal resistance when an attempt is made to move the vehicle both forward and backward from a stopped position.
(2) The automatic transmission will not hold in the park position.
(3) The vehicle is not capable of stopping within the maximum stopping distance prescribed in Table I (relating to brake performance) or swerves so that any part leaves the 12-foot lane.
(4) There is a malfunction of the braking or steering mechanism, particular shimmy, wander, pull or another questionable operating behavior that affects safe operation of the vehicle.
(5) The speedometer does not operate.
(6) The odometer does not operate, except on a motor vehicle at least 25 years old.
(7) The vehicle cannot be driven both forward and backward.
I've been operating it like this, safely for the bast 10 months or so without any problems. It really pisses me off to tell the truth, I'm new to the area, and I think they think I'm a sucker or something. If I were back home, I'd just have the local garage inspect it for me. This seemed like an honest shop, but I think they're just trying to make a quick buck off me. As if I'm not capable of replacing a set of pads/rotors? $300!!! WTF??
I never thought this would even be considered as an issue, it's hardly even noticeable.

Wow, that safety inspection process is a little over the top. Is there any way you could take it somewhere else for another inspection or are you now "in the system"? I would try not to reward that shop for there nit-pick inspection. Do any work yourself or take it somewhere else.

I'll be fixing it myself, it's only an hour job. Remove wheel, remove caliper, remove caliper mtg. bracket, remove roter, reverse, repeat for other side. I just can't believe they won't pass it for that, yes, NIT-PICK is correct. I think I'll be telling them that as well.
And yes, it's quite an inspection process. I could take it somewhere else to be inspected, but I still have to pay this shop for the "Failed" inspection. I can't 100% guarantee that the place I could take it when I travel back 'home' this weekend will pass it though either. So I could end up paying for the same end result twice.
know anyone with a shop? sometimes you can "buy" stickers... used to be $50 out the door.
have you been putting that much mileage on the truck? i thought you were rockin the pimp mobile more often then the titan.. i think anything less then 2k per year is exempt, but that might only be emissions, not the inspection portion.
The sad thing about this PA "Inspection" bullshít is that I see crappy cars from other states that look like rolling deathtrap POS's and they get away with driving around in unsafe, uninspected vehicles, but we don't. I even know some people who "sell" you a sticker for $25 without even looking at the vehicle. Makes it kind of irritating for those of us who try to abide by this law. At least it's not New Jersey where you can't make an appointment. You just drive up to an inspection station and wait in line. If they close before they get to you, tough luck. You have to come back, piss away more time and another day off work waiting in line. Now THAT would SUCK!!!!
We don't have any vehicle inspections down here. Shoot, I live in Alabama the land of the free and the home of uninsured vehicles.

Heck yeah, I put over 10k on it this year. I do know where I can get a sticker, but they don't do emissions testing.
Can the shop who performed the vehicle inspection be different than the shop that performed the emissions inspection???
