Question tires rubbing??

quick question about possible tire rubbing....

i recently got some tires in size 285/60/18 and have a feeling they might be rubbing....i also have radflos in front set to about 3.5" of lift...the tires are the terra grapplers and they are on stock se 18" wheels....

are they rubbing? sometimes, only at slow speeds, i hear a low groaning/squealing kinda sound when i turn the wheel, and it seems like it only happens at full lock....are they rubbing?? this is my first truck, so first time dealing with lift/bigger tires, and i'm not sure what it sounds like when tires rub, is this what i'm hearing? thanks in advance....

Re: tires rubbing??

If they are rubbing, you should see marks on the tires or the fender liner! Look there, it should be fairly obvious.

Re: tires rubbing??

I dont see why they would rub, they are 1" shorter than stock. They are wider than stock but they are less than 1" wider.

Re: tires rubbing??

hmmmm, ok i'll take a look at the tires and fender liners....any idea what else it could be?? could it possibly be something in the brakes?? i thought it was rubbing cause it only started after i got the new tires on, never heard the sound before and i've had the truck for about 25 months....

Have you checked the power steering fluid?

Re: tires rubbing??

just checked the p/s fluid, and it's not empty, but it's only about 1/4" above the min. mark on the reservoir, so i'm heading down to autozone to buy some new, hopefully that will fix it....

Re: tires rubbing??

well i checked the p/s fluid, which was low, so i refilled it, and low and behold, the sound is still there....upon further inspection, i think it's actually the rear brakes making the noise, i think it was just some weird coincidence that i noticed it when i was turning the steering wheel before, but now i've noticed it as i'm backing out of somewhere, or while i'm going thru a turn and apply the brakes...ugh....i'll take it in within the next few days to get the brakes looked at and hopefully that will get my truck to stop making sea lion noises....
