MAin difference is the GY's are a slightly larger size and weigh 12lbs more per tire. I talked to a local tire guy and he said most people who put E rated tires on pickups come back complaining of severe loss of mpg (2mpg). I drive 30K plus mile per year and I would be concerned about 2mpg loss. Any input from those that havce gobe to the heavier E rated tires? Are you seeing a bad loss in mpg? I don't care about the ride. Any input is much appreciated.

On my stock BFG All-Season Rugged Trail 44 lbs. 33" P285/70/17 = 14 mpg
Then on my BFG AT KO D-rated 58 lbs. 32.8" LT285/70/17 = 13 mpg
For my 320 miles per week they cost me an extra 1.76 gallons. At the current $3.08/gallon that would cost me an extra $5.40 a week, over stock.
Currently running the Toyo M/T E-rated 73 lbs. 33.5" LT295/70/17 = 12.0 mpg
And the M/Ts, with my 320 miles per week cost me an extra 3.5 gallons. At the current $3.08/gallon that would cost me an extra $10.80 a week, over stock.

I just bought the DELTA Sierradial whichs weighs in at 40#, has a 2773 # Paylaod per tire and is designed with a smooth, quiet, highway tread. It does not have high traction for cornering like a sports car, but for good mileage and qualities stated, it seems to really deliver. I tend to get 14-15 local (12 miles to work) and 19+, even 20! Highway. I carry excess weight with tool boxes in rear and am a BT CC.

Re: Will E rated tires effect Mileage?
I've got a data point for you: I've got the Continentals, and have about 45,000 miles on them. Some stuff I noticed:
-The handling on the truck is MUCH tighter. Those stiff tires REALLY tune up the driving experience. You're going to notice it IMMEDIATELY when you drive away from the tire store.
-The tires are a little sensitive to alignment. I need to get mine done, more from the fields and rough roads I drive on. The gas mileage has been down about 1 MPG on average. I used to get 14.8 to 15 MPG average on those crappy Goodyears, but on the Continentals it was about the same for quite a while. I'm now getting 14.2 best, 13.8 worst. Winter blend fuel, that goes out the window to the tune of 12 MPG.
Don't forget to have the alignment checked. You can throw a lot of money away in lost gas mileage through misalignment.
I put on the Michelin cross terrains at 35k miles. They should make it to 80k miles but since they have a 60K mile tread wear I won't pay full price again. At 45k miles of use I will pay right at $300 for new tires. If they do last for 60,000 miles I will be happy.
I gained in MPG over the stock GY tires, sorry I don't remember the exact figure. Tires are stiffer and make for tad rougher ride compared to the GY tires.
IMO tread wear warranty and free tire replacement road hazard is worth the extra $$$.
