Re: Wheel Offset?

I think our offset is +25.

Re: Wheel Offset?

Yes +25mm.

On an aftermarket wheel, which are often wider, you will have a different offset to get the same backspacing, (the distance from the inside edge of the rim to the mounting surface ... like if you laid it on the driveway, good side up, and measured from the driveway up to the mounting surface.

The stock SE and LE rims are 8" nominal width and have a 5.5" backspacing.
  • 5.5" backspacing on a 8.5" width rim, you need a +18mm offset.
  • 5.5" backspacing on a 9" width rim, you need a +12mm offset.
  • 5.5" backspacing on a 9.5" width rim, you need a +6mm offset.
  • 5.5" backspacing on a 10" width rim, you need a 0mm offset.
You will more likely need Kartman's pinch-weld-mod for wider rims or for smaller backspacing, (more deep dished).

A lot of what works depends on if you are lowering, or raising, and the type of lift and tires.

Re: Wheel Offset?

Okay, I am looking at 22's right now, and it is a 9.5' width but has a +13 offset. What would that do to my truck?

(9.5" + 1") / 2) +13mm = 5.75" backspacing

Assuming you have an '08 from your username, and assuming '08 stock rims are the same width and backspacing as the '04-'07s, they would stick 1/4" closer to the steering knuckle/spindle than the stock SE or LE rims. But they're 1.5" wider, so they will stick out about 1.25" more than stock.

If you look up at your spare tire's wheel, does it say something like 18x8 25?
What tires and lift do you have, or plan to run?

.

Re: Wheel Offset?

I looked at the spare tire wheel, and the only thing it has is like 03325S(or something) stamped on it. I was just planning on running some 305/45/R22 General Grabber tires on it. Would I have to modify anything?

Re: Wheel Offset?

Strange on the numbers, but anyway ... worst case, you might need a pinch weld mod, (see link in my above post, #3), since the rims are so wide, but might be fine ... idk. A PRG 1.3" lift, level kit or some of his height adjustable coilovers would probably help too.

Also, if you measure the rim ... furthermost inner edge to outer edge, and subtract about 1 inch, that will be the nominal or advertised rim width. Measure about 9" then it's an 8" rim.

For backspacing the distance from the truck side, (unfinished side), of the rim's innermost edge to the mounting surface is the backspacing.

Re: Wheel Offset?

Can somebody tell me how much my wheels would stick out with a 18x8.5 with a +20 mm offset or +15 mm offset.Right now I have stock se wheels which I know are only 8" wide but would like for it to stick out just a small tad.Thanks.

Re: Wheel Offset?

The 15 offset will stick out about 0.64" more than stock and the 20 offset about 0.43".
