Tire options

I have an 05 CC with the 17"Steel Wheels. I've searched the forums for options on tire sizes and can't seem to figure out which sizes I can put on my 17" steelies. I need to replace tires soon but we just bought a house so doin this on the cheap. I thought about getting the 2.5" leveling kit but haven't yet.

So ? is.. what is the biggest I can put on without the kit?

how much bigger can I go with the kit?

Thanks

~c.. aka newbie.. aka SINBIN......

Ohh an the Titan is the best truck I have ever owned... Ford, Chevy and the POS Dodge can stay on the lot.

Re: Tire options

For non-lifted, it would be wise to stay around the 285/70/17 range. If you were to add the 2.5" leveling kit, I believe you can run a 35" tire. But, seeing as how you're on a budget, I'd just stick with the 285's (33").

Re: Tire options

I second that ^^^. One thing to consider if your on a budget is to go to all the tire shops and ask for a used set. I got a set of 33" Mickey Thompson ATZs with 85%-90% tread for 400 bucks. Not a bad deal considering new they cost $900.

Re: Tire options

Just double check the allowable rim width for that tire and others. Both the 17" steelie and 17" O/R rim measure the same width (7.5") which is why you should have no problem mounting 285/70/17's on a steelie. I was going to do that with mine, but I didn't want to sap my mileage too much (LOL!) and I didn't want my speedo to be off, so I opted with the Toyo's in my signature. For the record, I believe the biggest you could go, no leveling kit would be 295/70/17, but you may need to remove the mudflaps.

Re: Tire options

a 295/70/17 is the same as a 33x12x17 and I no that itll fit. but that extra half inch might get ya, but i still think itll fit if you the pinch weld mod and u take of your mudflaps.
