ok so i found the wheels i want but they only come in 18" or bigger .....
my question to those in tha know is what is the advantages / disadvanges of running a bigger / smaller wheel in the desert ???
or is it really not that big a deal between a 17" and 18" wheel "
If you like them and dont mind payin for tires then get 'em. ive been pretty hard on mine offroad and never messed a wheel up. What size tire are you gonna run?
As long as your running 35's or bigger you should be fine, but with 17's you can pick up a used set of 37" BFG race projects of a trophy truck with the kevlar side walls and have the best dezert tire on the planet.
For spending time in the desert, more sidewall is better so for me a 17" wheel is needed. There is no negitive having a 17" wheel for the street, so why not?
Doesn't mean that an 18" set-up won't work, just less sizes available...but there are more 18" sizes on the way...
Only one good reason to run an 18" set up off road...You have the wheels already and don't want to buy another set in 17" (just about eveybody has to watch their budget, right?)
I've seen several real nice looking desert set ups running the factory 18" SE/LE wheel with 305 BFG's A/T's...

The '08 guys and those that have upgraded to the big brakes can't even run 17s ... of course there might be an exception with some caliper grinding like the way some have fit 16s on an '04-'07.
