I just purchased LT265/70/17 load range E Yokohama Geolander AT and new Incubus aluminum rims with a +22 Offset and put them on my 2005 Nissian Titan XE. I wanted to go to a higher load tire to reduce tail swing and have a more stable ride when heavily loaded.
The truck handles terrible with the new wheels. The truck darts back in forth in the wind and almost feels like I going to lose control. The steering is overly sensitive. The truck is all over the road. I get a lot of tail swing pulling my trailer. I did torque the log nuts.
I put the original rims and tires back on and it handles like new again.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have all of this money in these new wheels with only 500 miles on them. Would any alignment or tire pressure suggestions help? I have tried the 45 to 80 PSI range with little or no handling difference.
my first thought was that they might me a uni-directional tire, and were not mounted correctly, but looking at the Yokohama web site, they look like they are not. double check to make sure. Try switching a couple of the tires around... "sometimes" this can help sort things out.

Maybe one of them is not balanced correctly or lost a weight, or defective ... like out of round.
I'd go back to the place that mounted them first, and have them check the balance. If that doesn't help, then get them road forced balance on a Hunter. (search on Hunter for information).
Maybe it's a defective rim instead. Btw, what size are they?
As a final attempt, you can have the new tire mounted on the old rims to determine if it's the new tires or new rims causing the issue.
I have experienced a big difference on the steering sensitivity on the wife's mini-van when we got a new model of tires. Definitely had to pay more attention because of the quick reaction, but we quickly got used to it. But if the balance etc. checks out, maybe you will need to adjust your tongue weight etc., get a weight distribution hitch, etc. (check out the TitanTalk's Towing forum).

Also try 35psi.
.
I have a weight distribution hitch already. The truck drives poorly without towing anything. It is very sensitive and border-line dangerous. I have not tried 35 PSI yet but I may give it a try and it seems simple enough.
The balancing and moving tires around option sounds like it could get time consuming and expensive.
The rims are 17 x 8.0 rims Incubus part number 501 780 655 +22
I know the guys that mounted my tires accidently try mounting a 16 inch tire on one of m 17 inch rims. Is it possible to bend aluminum rim trying to mount the wrong tire?

max load @ 51 psi if they put in that much air pressure it could be the problem.

Idk. Seems like it would just crack a chunk off.
I would have them check the balance. Did you buy the tires from them? ... if so I'd have them make sure they're right, not some out of round defective tires they bought cheap.
If you ordered them on-line, you are going to have to determine if it's the rims or the tires at fault, which mean you paying for the mounting to check.
Good luck with it. This kind of thing is frustrating and expensive.

He's running LT265 tires, not P265s, so the pressure should not have damaged them.
Btw, P-Metrics are usually 35 psi max, but some are stamped 44 or 51 psi, for higher speed, but not more load. The ones you show are the first 51 psi tires I've seen.

Maximum psi will not be squirrelly, that's why higher speed tires allow more maximum pressure. Just admit you're wrong, and stop being so girlie.
My tires read max load at 65 psi and I run 35 psi up front and 32 psi in the rears. WTF you talking bout Nor I don't believe this has been diagnosed yet.

New tires usually feel looser due to taller tread allowing more flex. Over inflation would aggravate the feeling. They will feel better as you get miles on them. Also suggest you go with mid 30s to 40 pounds air pressure.
