Re: Toyo M/T question

i dont drive that far with my truck, maybe 8-10 miles 5 days a week. I dont think 37's should be a problem for me. I just love the way they look, and now I know how these perform, thanks for the info guys. I love this forum.

$2200.00! FOR TIRES ONLY! WAJ! I payed half that for my Hankook's
Also I don't see that anyone has asked how you are going to fit 37X13.50's the way your truck is set up in your avatar NO WAY! more lift? fiberglass fenders? also without gearing you will have a LEAD SLED After installing my 37's loss of RPM'S and way heavier tire I want even lower gearing 4.10's (custom diif ) I have Hooper's custom 3.73's now.

the avatar is a really old pic, I have donahoe's flipped with a small spacer, I have alot of gap between my wheel and fenders. i have 325/65 right now and they are really wide but i dont rub at all. Getting my body lift done as we speak. after that im gonna pay hoopers a visit for some gearing. My tires right now weigh 86lbs and the toyo's are 93 not really a big jump im not worried about it. Dont worry Bechlyf i got it covered.

Re: Toyo M/T question

I think they will fit, already made some measurements from toyo's specs on their website. Plus with a body lift it should clear, well have to see though. (fingers crossed)

With what you have now, and a body lift everything should be O.K.
Did you REALLY PAY $2200.00 for tires alone ?
I would have Hoopers make you a Dana 60 with Titan axle housing ends welded to the ends. No lights heavy duty and any gear set you want 4.10's

Re: Toyo M/T question

The 2200 is out the door with balance, high pressure valve stem, mounting, and extended warranty. Yea its a lot but I got a big pay check last month so im not really worried about it. Sorry Im a newb to lifted trucks been doing the import car racer thingy since high school, what exactly will lower or higher gears do for you?

Lower overall gearing will make any vehicle quicker off the line ... similar to the way a automatic drops to a lower gear when you are passing and hit it.

A larger diameter tire raises the gear ratio, so with 37s the Titan might seem gutless compared to a stock sized tire. The fact that the 37 can weigh 93 pounds will add to this gutlessness. So a BT/OR Titan with lower gearing, 3.357:1, won't be screwed as bad as a non-BT/OR Titan that has the higher gearing, 2.94s.

In theory, if you had a 37 that weighed the stock tire's 44 lbs., it would be gutless, but get better gas mileage. But the weight screws you, and one other thing.

The taller tires, (even heard of this with 34.5s), confuses the computers and the torque converter doesn't lock at the correct point. So you don't end up with the fuel saving of over-drive, and even if the tires weighed the same as stock, had the theoretical fuel savings of the taller tires, it is taken away by the non-locking torque-converter, (TC).

Tire and rim weight, even if the "correct" size, can screw you too. I'm only getting 12 mpg with very close to stock diameter 33.5" Toyo M/Ts ... but they weigh 73 lbs.

If after market gears were readily available, the torque converter not locking issue could be solve as well as the lack of power issue, but the tire weight issue would still affect the gas mileage .... because of rotational force. But for someone that drives freeway, (not stop and go), the weight could provide a fly-wheel affect and improve mileage, (if the TC is locked), but for my curvy road commute ... always accelerating out of the curves, weight hurts.
