Depends on how wide the rims are. The same offset will give you different clearance depending on the width.

Backspacing, (B.S.), is the distance from the backside of the rim to the mounting surface, and is what matters.

Stock backspacing is 5.5" (for an 8" rim, this is +25mm of offset). For a 9" wide rim to have 5.5" of B.S. 9" + 1" (for the rim lips), divided by 2 gives the centerline of the rim at 5", so another 1/2" or +12mm of offset would be needed to have the same 5.5" B.S. as stock.

For a 9" rim with stock spindles you could go with a 5.75" B.S. and the offset would be +18mm. With street tires maybe even a 6" B.S. which on a 9" width rim would be a +25mm B.S.

Same numbers if you decide to go for a 17 or 18" rim.

basically, im lowering my truck 2/3, im looking at some 22x9.5 rims with 305-45-22, the rims have +30mm offset. will this set-up be perfect for me? i DO NOT want my tires to stick out of the fender, would like them to sit flush if not inside a little!

Centerline on a 9.5" rim is 5.25", (10.5"/2), and with +30mm is about +1.2" which would have a backspacing of about 6.45", which might rub on the spindle/steering knuckle because it ... sticks the inside edge in about an inch more than stock 18x8" rims, (at 5.5" b.s.). If you have more than an inch clearance to the inside with stock rims then you might be o.k.

If you do have enough clearance, (to the inside for 6.45" b.s.), the rims will only stick out about 1/2" more than stock.
