One way to get new tires....reasonably.

Ok. Goodyear RS-A's from the factory sucked and were a magnet for nails. They lasted me 26k miles and needed replacement.

So I replaced them with Continental Conti's like the factory uses. They were ok with nails but at 25k miles they are close to the wear bars. And the rubber is chunking in small pieces so I again needed tires. So.......

Keeping a close eye on Craigslist I found new takeoff's from an 08 Tundra. They are steel wheels with Michelin LTX A/S 255/70/18 tires. Quick check with a tire calculator showed 1/2 inch shorter overall and 1 MPH off at 60.....At a displayed 60 I am going 59....ok with me. $300 later I own them.

Today I had Tire Kingdom mount and balance them. $93 total with tax. They sell these tires each for $255 when I asked at the counter.....yes you can get them less online but still an expensive tire. Now I still have 4 new steel Tundra rims WITH tire pressure monitors to sell.........if I can get even $50 for them I got 4 new Michelin's for $350 installed.

The extent of my 4 wheeling is vacant lots so I did not need Grapplers and this is an option for people looking for tires. They looked slightly less wide when side by side with the old ones but look fine on and ride great. Now if i can get more than 25k miles like my last 2 sets I will love it.

An easy way to get new tires.. rent a titan from enterprise, take both trucks to tire shop, swap them out, and you're set. Enterprise never checks the tred depth when I rent...

So, you advocate stealing instead of paying your own way in life?

Nah thankfully I make good money, plenty of money in the bank to live at least a year if I lost my job.. so I don't need to sink THAT low. Plus I'm becoming a Police Officer. Tires arn't worth risking my dream career.

HOWEVER, peep this. It's wrong, yes. But if you got laid off from work, money became tight, and you NEEDED tires. I mean, you have steel showing on 2 tires and the other two are pretty bald. Your bills are past due, and you can't afford tires for the next two months but you need your truck to drive to interviews and get grocerys. Even after you get hired, you can't afford tires for the 40 miles to drive round trip everyday.. Then yes, I would have to say in situations sometimes you got to do what you have to do, to survive
