Bleeding the breaks??

HEY GUY'S,

I JUST REPLACED MY STOCK RUBBER BREAK LINES WITH LONGER BRAIDED SS ONES FROM PRG, FOR SOME REASON I AM HAVEING A HARD TIME BLEEDING THE BREAKS THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND REMAINS MUSHY. I RECENTLY INSTALLED A 6" SUSPENSION LIFT THAT'S WHY I HAD TO REPLACE THE LINES AND IDEA WHAT I AM DOING WRONG? I HAD MY SON PUMP THE BREAKS SEVERAL TIMES AND JUST HOLD THE PRESSURE TILL IT HITS THE FLOOR AND REPEAT? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED.

Re: Bleeding the breaks??

First step is DON'T USE ALL CAPS!!

now that we have that out of the way, is there a leak any where on the BRAKE line?

you can get a vacuum bleeder that will suck the fluid from the master cylinder all the way to the brake caliper bleed nipple.

Are you cracking the bleeder then closing it completely again before the pedal is released?

Re: Bleeding the breaks??

it also helps to fill the brake fluid before you start and open the bleeders for the ones you are bleeding until you have fluid drip out steady then tighted the bleeders and start bleeding saves alot of time

Various brake bleeding options are discussed in detail in this exceptionally informative thread:

brake fluid flush

break - when you are drinking coffee and trying to pick up the new secretary & what happens to your neck when the wife finds out

brake - what stops your truck

Re: Bleeding the breaks??

Hope you dont run into the same situation I got..I replaced the brake pads on the front and I bled EACH brake 3 times. And within those three times, about 5-7 times on each brake.

My brakes were still kinda mushy. I would slam on the brakes, straight to the floor, and "panic" mode wouldn't do crap. Eventually after using the brakes for awhile, they have gotten better! I thought they were normal, but the Titans I test drove two days ago, their brakes were twice as good as mine. So hope you can find a good solution! I don't want to go to the dealer..or brakes plus!

Re: Bleeding the breaks??

One should always bleed from the rear first then follow to the front.
