im about to spend about $1000 on nitto terra grapplers 305/70r/17's... would you suggest these or whats something similar you would suggest??? i need new tires asap.. and i have the money.. im not looking to spend more then about $1200... and right now i have the BFG rugged trail.. and i hate them... so i deff dont want those..
It all depends on what you are looking for in a tire.
im looking for a rugged looking tire.. but i dont go off roading too much.. i plan too do it more.. but they are more just reg. driving around town.. so i was suggested that they would be good for that.. but i am looking for T owners opinions.. lol
I'm on my second set of Grapplers. I have used them on dirt, mud and snow. Combined with Trutrak, they have performed well.

I just bought a set of 325/60/18 not too long ago. While i have not driven on them that long, like some others, i love them. They look really aggressive and ride much better than the revo's that i had before. By the way, i was very disappointed with the revo's and will not recommended them to anyone. As for the nitto's, so far, so good. Mine were just under a grand installed.
edit. What i did is just go to NTB and then to discount and had discount match and beat NTB lowest price for the set to get the best price for them. i am not sure, if there are any near you, but you can always have shops price match and beat competitors prices.

While I was a reputable shop around town this last week getting the oil changed on my work van, their was a guy asking about Nitto's...The owner was telling him to steer clear because they wear out fast. He said he would personally never use Nitto's. Now of course, thats just what "a shop owner" said, but he seems pretty knowledgable. Just throwing it out there

yeah I was told the same. That's what drew me away last time I bought tires (plus the price). I went with kumho road ventures which seem to be holding up. I still thinkin nitto's next time though they just look so SICK

LOL, yeah it wouldn't stop me!! BFG KDW's are one of the best performing tires on the road (for little racers like me lol), but I heard reviews that they wore out fast too because they are also soft, but I would still buy them just for the performance
My second set of tires on my T where 295 70 17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. Great tire. I got about 45,000 out of mine. And I would have got more if I had got my front end aligned after I installed the 09 Pro4x coilovers with my 2" spacer. (my camber was off with the additional inch from the 04 coilovers).
Most people I know that claim they dont last drive 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, and probably dont rotate them as often as they should.
I got my 295's for $930ish (cant remember) out the door...Mounted, balanced, and road hazard. They were cheaper per tire than the replacement 285 70 Rugged Turds.

Toyo A/T's are working out for me so far. I got them because I saw a ton of good reviews on them and the M/T's. But if you like the nittos then go for them. A lot of people on here swear by them and they do look pretty sick.

45,000 is enough for me nittos will definitly be added to my endless wish list.
If you're not leveled consider going for the LT295/70R17 D Nitto TG's. They will be less likely to rub, and weigh a few pounds less too.
I was thinking of getting the Hankook ATm RF10 in the 295s, but they are around 7 lbs. more than the Nitto 295s, which their tech told me were only 55 lbs. [He said the 305 TGs were 61 lbs.]

Toyo owns/makes the Nitto. The Toyo A/T usually cost more than Nitto TG, but the Toyo's come with a 40K mile warranty in the 17" sizes, 50K mile for the P-metric sizes. Wish they had the 295's. They do have a 34" LT285/75R17 E with a 3-ply sidewall, but they weigh almost as much as my M/Ts, 67 lbs. IIRC, so it looks like Nitto 295s for me.
