Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT!

Nitto friggin rocks!!! I purchased 315/75/R16 (35.0"x12.9") Mud Grappler Xtreme Terrain tires from Discount Tire, these are hands down the best meats I've ever run (had the Toyo MT and BFG MT previously) and they've out performed my friend's Swamper TSL. The Mud Grappler means absolutely incredible trail performance and traction in dirt, mud, and on rocks (decent in snow and on pavement)...so when I wear these out I'll buy the same in a 37". What is so noticably cool is how the sidewall bite into deep ruts, aggressive like no other sidewall on the market. Note, on the pavement Mud Grappler is a smooth riding radial, but loud (which I like).

Here is the 35" Mud Grappler next to my old 33" Toyo MT, note the difference in lug size and spacing between lugs which cleans out well at each revolution; the key to wheeling in mud. On rock they wrap and grip like no other.

Love them tires man! how is the tread wear? You rotate them often? I'm planning on getting a set I heard they are awesome. Just the noise factor but I love the sound of those tires, lets everyone know you are coming!

hey you know that 315/75/16 arent really true 35x. But rather like 34.5 or so. They are wider then a true 35x but a bit shorter. same with true 35x they are taller but a bit less wider then a 315

Hey MX, I have a quick question, do you run the stock lug nuts on your wheels with the spacers? Or do you have the lugs with the little shaft on em?

Stevie, I had to space my wheels out to fit them on (kinda a long story). Anyway, I was suggested to stay away from "Spacers" because they move too much weight to the end of the studs and could possibly break them. It was recommended to go with wheel "Adapters" instead so that's what I did.

The OEM Lugs don't work with them unless they have the same thread pattern (which mine don't). So the place I bought them from included non-capped lugs to bolt the adapter onto the hub then a new set of capped acorn lugs to fit onto the adapters' studs. They also included a set of Gorilla Lug Locks which seem to be pretty nice so far.

Here's what they look like installed:

It's a local Mom & Pop shop and they are awesome. They should know what you need if you mention you need the same setup as the Lifted Red Nissan Armada has.

Pops, Greg told me the same thing about the spacers and the studs, but i needed something since the stock wheels won't clear 35's on the spindle. I ended up getting 1/4" spacer and got some lugs that had a little shaft on them and went into the wheel so it would get more lug on the studs, but the lug was too big for the wheel and after awhile they start breaking when I need to rotate my tires.

The adapters look like a great way to go, but I haven't been able to find any that were less than 1", I think a 1/2"-3/4" would be ideal for me. I just bought new rims, but I'm trying to find out the best way to use my stock wheels with 35" terra graps for when i go offroading. I've seen them on ebay for about 100 for 4 of em, how much did they run you? Thanks.

You're right the catch is that you can't get less than 1". I don't even know if they come that small, the smallest I could get was 1.25". I think it might have something to do with affecting the strength and lug presses in them??

They cost me about $65/ea with all the lug nuts included. There were 2 sets of nuts included, one set to attach the adapter to the hub and another to attach the wheel to the adapter.
