Eh some will argue your times no matter what LOL...I believe you man, although your truck is darn heavy to run that fast. But, I believe you man. Heat soak does suck. After I ran my 14.5, I went to the track the next week with a similar DA, but I drove right off the street onto the track to race and ended up running like 6 times in an hour. With no cool down I was running 14.7's. It can def rob you of a couple tenths
I weighed right at 5200lbs with me and a 1/3 tank of gas
Actually, thats not that heavy. If you weighed 200 LBS then oyur truck would weigh 5000...I weighed 4840 without me in it and without my spare tire and with less than 1/4 tank of gas. So with your spare tire and extra fuel, thats another 100 lbs so 4900, thats not too heavy actually
Nah, no tru-trac. I could really tell the difference in the vvt. Just more balls on top end.

The Following User Says Thank You to MSrockyblue For This Useful Post:
Really good times man. I believe you. Weigh and a DA has a lot to do with it.
Problem with us So Cal guys is we can't get a break on a DA. Our 1/4 mi tracks run during the day, and it's usually at a 2500+ DA or the humidity is through the roof. Not to mention everyone says that it runs up hill after the 1/8th. Our 1/8th is the better track, but the best DA I have ran there with was a 948 and I have been going there for 2 years now.
Take my weight for example:
I went to the local dump and weighed the truck. With no one in it, 3/4 tank of gas (147lbs of fuel, each gallon weighing in at 7 lbs, 28 gallon tank), my 2 12s (75 lbs), spare (68 lbs), hitch, 4WD LE, it weighed in at 5500 lbs, with myself, 5678.
When I run at the track, I usually have 1/2 tank, no spare and no sub box + myself (170). My weight is: 5478

My spare is 95lbs. Those steel wheels are heavy like lead almost!! I will see about dropping the spare/tailgate next time I go with a good cool down and see what happens then. It's insane the power this engine makes stock. If Nissan were to have used it or a slightly smaller/lighter version in the Z car instead of the V6.....damn!!

Be careful when you take out that spare, it may do more harm than help. Perhaps that's why you were hooking up really good in lieu with the track prep?

The track was sticky alright. I got tar all over my right exhaust tip. The tailgate removed help me by .2. I was gonna remove the spare but said f it. I got too much other sh!t weighing it down to worry about it. I'm good with high 14's(very high) for now. Next I'll remove the cats and see.

I always leave my spare and tailgate on because from previous experiences on the track with my truck I need the extra weight for traction.
Yes, that's my problem also. I tried every weight removal combination on several different occasions, and I need that rear weight.

yo ho, lookie hawaiititan, i was pretty close to right.
Your guess was about as close as mine
Good times for your mods Toughtitian, looks like the DA for that run was 986 feet which is not bad at all especially taking the tracks elevation into account. So was that run with the +2 deg. timing advance, no tailgate, no spare, and no filter? The Titan guys can take a good lesson from that on all the little things that add up, and weight reduction a little here and there add up to make a difference.
On my truck if I were to take the cover and wing, tailgate, spare, and use a little less gas I can easily drop 300 lbs, that should be good for .3 in the 1/4.
