Little surprised by a Malibu

So I was on my way home from work today and the light turns yellow on this 1 lane road so i give it a little gas to get through it, barely hear the exhaust, and the car behind me gets on it too to make the light. I had no idea what was behind me, all I saw were the headlights. I space myself from traffic a good ways and when the road opens up to 2 lanes, I drop it to 30mph and see if he bites. He pulled up beside me in a, what seemed to be 08-09 Malibu. We decide to gun it. I took off a half length behind him but only pulled to about 3/4 of a length in front. We hit 80 and I shut her down because I see traffic up the way. I was shocked! I pulled up behind him and it's a LTZ so I couldn't wait to get home to look up what was underneath that thing. So he gave me the thumbs up and went on his way. Come to find out, it carries 252hp v6 with vvt and runs the 1/4 @ 15.1 and only weighs 3,640lbs. Boy was I surprise for a sedan with 4 people in it.

15.1? That's it?? Man, I'd put lots of lengths on that thing....lol. Then again, over half a second difference at any speed is putting some lengths in-between.....haha.

Re: Little surprised by a Malibu

I know there's a LOT of untapped potential in that 3.6 vvt engine just waiting to be uncorked. Bad thing is they have torque steer that is damn near unnerving. I can only imagine how bad it would be with even more power. Reminds me of the Maximas with the 3.5 engine and 6spd.........talk about torque steer!!!
