Titan vs. Scion Tc

My wife's girlfriend drives a 5 speed Scion. The night before we all went out but in 2 cars. The Scion and my wifes Xterra. The Scion destroyed it. The next day same scenario but this time we were in my Titan.

I challenged her - we got the red light. I was gunning it in N and then slipped it into 3. The light changed - I mashed that peddle and layed down about 20 feet of rubber and it was OVER. It was not even close - at all. I couldn't believe how fast this monster could pull its own weight. As I shifted through the gears my wife was laughing.

I've found that 3rd works best for in' the meats. (Rugged Trails more like chopped liver)

I must be missing something here

Starting off in 3rd? Even putting the shifter in 3rd and hitting the gas, doesnt' that still start you out in 1st then 2nd? My Land Cruiser had a special button that was a 2nd gear start for slippery surfaces (Ice), but starting out in 3rd and laying rubber? Hmmmm......

Yes, putting it in any of the drive settings will start in first, then increment up normally to the gear you selected. The only reason to set any gear other than D is to prevent the tranny from shifting that high like for towing, steep grades, etc.

GOOD KILL.. Did your wife's girlfriend launch her car though? My brother in law has a TC and when launched properly it does have some pick up. But I don't think as much as the Titan though. hahaha. I'll have to race him one of these days.

Keep posting all your races.. This is starting to be my favorite section.
