It was pretty late at night and I had just pulled up to a red light when a silver Dodge Durango pulled up right next to me. The only reason I even noticed it was because the Durango was pumping out some mad bass and the young kid in the drivers seat was almost hanging out the window
I edged up a bit on the line and so did he; I knew we were set to go. The light changed green and my rear tires started spinning, then I BLEW off the line (it even surprised me.) Even with the brief delay of the tire spin he had no chance at beating me. In fact, He was already at the end of my bed seconds after we left the line. The next time I looked he was in my rear view mirror.
He followed me for awhile and then we met up at another light side by side. I edged up again, but this time he stayed back, I just accelerated off the line like I normally would.
A few miles down the rode I was making a left hand turn at a light and he was going stopped at the light and did a major head turn trying to eye the beast that had just left him in the dust.
I almost considered buying one of those a few years back, before I had the Land Cruiser. I was at ToyRus the other day picking up one of those Polaris ATV's for my motor head son, when I got to the back pickup area there was a Durango parked in the loading area with the back open and seats folded down. They were loading an outdoor play set, of course it wouldn't fit in the Durango in the box, so they opened the box "in the door way" to load it into the Durango, piece by piece. I stood there watching this, they had another car with them that they were also putting pieces in. I realized how SMALL that Durango was, glad I had the Land Cruiser, that had more cargo room. They finally got all the pieces in the two vehicles and got the big emty box out of the way. I went in, got my box which wasn't much smaller then their play set and I tossed it in the back of the Titan and drove off. No messing with trying to fit stuff in, just tossed her in. Cool

I guess the guy just found out he really does drive a station wagon.
yup, a Durango (Hemi or not) is a weak (for its size) and heavy station wagon
i've got a station wagon also, a Honda Element ex 4wd (well... wife's car) but mine gets 23MPG, goes 0 to 60mph in about 8 seconds, and we can sleep on the flat floor fully stretched out, or sit up straight to cook/eat/read/watch DVDs and only cost me $20K. the best of all, that Element keeps my Titan all to myself.
and yes, to some eyes my Element is ugly or f'ugly (and i like that 'hated or like it' factor)...but looks good to me, but hey, i am the kind of man that's turned off by silicone enhanced lumpy and not-bouncy large breasts on women... keep it real, that is what i say

I had a '99 Durango with the 318. I replaced the TB with a fully bored out one and replaced the performance chip with an reprogrammed one. I also had a K&N intake and filter system installed. It was definately faster than the stock 360 after that.
But no matter what I did to it, it was still a Dodge.

I've had a few Dodges myself including two 5.7L HEMI Rams. Did you have a lot of problems with your Durango? I know the older 5.2L and 5.9L are known for blowing the belly gasket on the intakes.

Yeah, the Durango sure did poorly off the line. I doubt many other Durango drivers would have tested the power of the Titan, but the young kid driving the Durango must have thought his "bass" would give him that extra push he needed to hang with me
