who tells the truth - being discussed at Nissan Titan Forums in the War Stories section.
something funny when you go to another site for another brand of truck especially the dodge forum , you always get them saying they always beat the titan no problem but when you come here it is the opposite who is telling the truth ? i know from personal experience not that i race all the time but i have gone up against the hemi truck 2 times lost one won one the one i won was bone stock hemi the one i lost to was heavily modded but i was still damn close. just curious
i've never raced at all, so i have no experience but your own experience should tell you the truth. it took a modded hemi to beat you and barely. i believe in the power of this truck, the most powerful stock vehicle i've ever driven.
It depends. Some people assume that once they "pull ahead by 10 lengths" they're kicking someone's butt. I don't know about you guys but I really don't see where ANYONE would stay in it and be that far behind. I think a lot of kills are people jockeying for position in a lane and the yahoo thinks it's a race and punches it. Half of the street races out there aren't even races, but some people live off of that I suppose.
As far as the hemi thing goes, most of the hemis claiming kills are std cabs with mods. And quite frankly, they will beat us. Especially in the eighth mile. This is the range that most street races happen. It takes me the full 1/4 mile on motor to beat most of the hemis out there. The quad cabs? They are cake. Sorry to any Dodge boys reading this, but they are. The Chevy guys are generally a step behind but a cam change does wonders for them. Again, most of the std cabs are the ones that are fast and the exteded cabs are slower. I think the extended cabs are about the same weight as the crew cab titan. But the VHOs are running some excellent times with a minimum of mods, even with the extended cabs.
This is why I prefer the dragstrip. There is no doubt it is a race and who wins.
Okay guys I'll let you know how the Titan stacks up against the HEMIs. I've had two of them. The first one I bought was a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 with a HEMI and 20s. I had a Magnaflow Exhaust, CAI, Mobil 1, 4200 miles on it when I ran it in the 1/8 mile. I ran a 10.44 as a best time and traded that truck off because it was a lemon. I traded it in for 2004 Dodge Ram Reg Cab Short Bed 4x4 with 17s and a HEMI, bone stock 1/8th mile time with 1k miles on the clock was 10.16 as a best and now in a few weeks I'll try the Titan to see what it would run in the 1/8 mile with my mods listed below.
Had a hemi CC pull beside me and keep inching up to get even. We were on a I-10 east feeder road and the freeway entrance was about 1/4 mile up and he was in the right lane and I was on the left. He was going to have to get around me and get into my lane to get on the freeway. He could have pulled in behind me and gotten on but you could tell he was not that kind of feller. He came off the line like a bat out of hell and only then did I floor it. He was ahead of me by a full truck length but by the time we reached the entrance to the freeway , I was ahead of him by at least one truck length. He had his wife or girl friend in the truck with him and she looked like she was either giving him sh*t about racing or loosing, I don't know which. My wife was in the truck with me and I know I was getting %&$#@%^&^$ from her. When I looked back at him he looked shocked that this rice burner just cleaned his clock. Kinda busted his bubble.

The Reg Cab HEMIs are pretty quick. Most click off around 14.7s to 14.9s but, that's a Reg Cab, Short Box 2wd with 17s and 3.92 gears bone stock. Bolt on a few mods like exhaust, intake, programmer, headers, and now cams and they're pretty quick. Most with those mods are in the very low 14s into high 13s (almost). Also, some of them do weight reduction like taking out the washer bottle, passenger seat, tailgate, spare tire, and some other things to make them run even quicker times but, of course there are a few freak HEMIs out there that put down good numbers for sure.
It's a guy thing. We as real men must brag and lie (about many things). However, when one owner sayshe "killed" the other vehicle I grow leary. Both are fast and who knows who has what mods? Maybe the loser driver is a chicken sh*t at heart and fears 90 mph. Maybe his wife is yelling at him to drive like a husband, not a man. Maybe he's drunk behind the wheel. Maybe he like to lose because he always has been a loser. One thig is certain if one was clearly the better truck we would not still be talking about 1 1/2 years after the trucks came out!
I get beat every night by Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Nissan Yugo, Kia, Moped..... I don't mind making peoples days. Anyone jumped off the line and then let off the gas and thought about how happy that little nose picker in the S10 is at that very moment?
