GT Cruiser

Took on a Pt Cruiser GT(2.4 Turbo). Easily put him half a car length behind the bumper right away and held it until about 50mph. Then the turbo kicked in and he pulled even when I hit about 70mph. He wasn't happy that it took him that long to catch up. That is a definite improvement for the PT guys over the non-turbo version. Too bad there isn't a turbo/supercharger for us, he'd still be eating dust.

I hate those things. Chrysler should have gone with the hot rod association with that body style and made a real car out of it.

Seems to me there a Dodge Neon platform with a different body on top. I suspect alot of the go fast parts that make the SRT4 a hot item would also work on the PT Cruiser.

PS: His turbo should have been kicked in a long time before you two reached 70mph. I would have thought he was approaching full boost right around 3500-4000rpms with a peak hp of 220 ponies reached around 5000rpms

My brother had a PT. His wife used to refer to it as "the little hearse". That was pretty harsh...

Yeah, the turbo kicked in before 70, but it took him till 70 to overcome the deficit that he had from the start.

Thanks for the tip, I guess the moral of this story is to get up to 70 and then put your foot on the brakes.

It's the same motor as the SRT4. I know a guy that can run 12's in his PT. He put a bigger turbo (not to mention a bunch of other things) in and is running about 360hp to the wheels.
The only reason they are not as fast as the SRT4, is because they are quite a bit heavier.
