Goodbye Civic!

I just realized that I never shared my story...

A few days after I picked the Titan up, my buddy Adam calls me up and says "Let's head to Hooters for lunch, let me check that Titan out."
Lunch went well, a good time was had, and much truck envy ensued...

Then on the drive back to the office I'm stopped at a light and notice this little ole early 90's hatchback civic with several different colors of body panels (that makes them FAST!), and a pipe big enough to double as a 50 gallon drum (so I can hear him coming from the other side of town).

When the light changed, he was off. I wasn't really planning to go, but I figured "What the heck, why not?" and put the pedal down to the floor. We went about .5 mile or so. He was right on my bumper. Then I hear him shift into 4th. Uh oh, he started falling behind....by a few car lengths. He made the obvious choice of down shifting back into third. He briefly catches up, but then I hear a loud popping noise from his direction, and all the sudden he's gone. Through the rearview I watched him slowly drift to a stop in the middle of the road, something quite obviously wrong.

Sorry Mr. Beat Up Civic Driving Man, You just got owned by a 4x4 Titan. May that repair bill be your lesson to stick to minivans and grocery getters.

-Steve

Haha, Hell yeah man, I have to deal with loud wannabe racers here too. To tell you the truth it gets annoying especially the loud distorted exhaust sound passing by your house 8-10 times a day. In this town the 4 bangers always race against the trucks regardless if its a diesel or gasoline. Lucky me, I always get picked on. Most of the time I let them pass by even if they rev on me. But when I'm in the mood I'll race them and beat them, slow down and just smile at them.

Im curious, Whats the average 1/4 mile times with a stock Civic or acura integra?

It appears nitrous is getting big in my area. What would either of these do with a 50 or 75 shot of juice?

It depends. If its civic with a b-series swap from the Integra motors, it should run low 14's depending if its the b18b dohc non-vtec motor or b18c1 motor dohc vtecs. If the motor was in a lighter car such as the hatchback or even the crx's. They can hit mid to low 14's easily with just a swap dohc motors. Adding nitrous of course you'll be in the 13's.

But of course with just the stock civic with its original sohc motors, they'll be anywhere from low 15's to mid 14's running 75 shots.

And a stock Integra either b18b or b18c motors run somwhere in the mid 14's depending on the elevation. Most people I know use nitrous either have good experience because of the condition of the motor and other's have bad experience because they dont take other precaution to lengthen the life of the motor.

From my experience the car you really need to worry about are the one that are boosting. You can tell from the bling chrome front mount intercooler followed by a wooshing sound from their blow off valve.

My roommate was laughing for a few days about it. Mostly because it was a big 4x4 pickup. I have no doubt that it was the Titan's mighty torque advantage that got me rolling off the line more quickly.
Or maybe it was all the bolt on parts that slowed him down?
