War StoriesThis section is for discussion of any races you may have particpated in. If you smoked someone like a pack'o'cools, let us know. Likewise, if you got beat... let us know by what, so we can keep an eye out for it next time.
My brother has the 2001 SC 3.3 v6 frontier and I have a 4x4 Le big tow titan. We raced twice. First I took the holeshot and smoked him. Second time he took the holeshot and he stayed ahead until about 45 mph. As soon as my titan shifted into 2nd gear it was like night and day. I literally flew right passed him. I thought it was cool how much speed the titan picks up from that shift point
Yeah, those older s/c'd fronty's are pretty doggy compared to other boosted V6's. The new Frontiers are another story, though. So was he surprised you beat him.....sounds like fun!

The fronty SC,s have good power i think but did you or your brother really think it had a chance against a titan? Is his modded at all?
I think it would have to be a little to stay ahead until 45.
I raced a Dodge SRT-4 yesterday...those things are pretty quick! Just barely pulled away from him.
If you were driving a Titan, you wouldn't be pulling away from an SRT-4. That's a 5+ second 0-60 car, and the 1/4 will dust our trucks. (2004 Dodge SRT-4 5.3 13.9).
As for the Frontier SC, I had an 02 SC Fronty and without the smaller pulley, that thing couldn't pass wind. Although the 2.3 pulley brought the power from 210HP up to about 240HP, it still would have to bow to the almighty Titan.

thats the best that car can do with someone who knows how to shift
not all drivers can get those "best" times out of their cars...I knew a famous hockey player that couldnt keep his Ferrari straight to save his life, let alone go 0-60 in under 6 secs
but yea, our trucks wont touch a good driver in those little pocket rockets
Yeah...those SRT-4's can be pretty fast, but remember it's still only a Neon.
Actually, the performance numbers on the Titan are not that bad when you compare them to a stock SRT-4. The best 1/4 time here for a N/A Titan is around 14.9 which is about a second off from an "expert" driven SRT-4.
A supercharged Titan is reported to put out around 500hp which should get it deep into the 13's in the 1/4 mile. A stock or nearly stock SRT-4 won't have a chance against a tuned/chipped supercharged Titan. When and if a pully upgrade becomes available, I bet even a lightly modded SRT-4 will have trouble unless it has stage-3+ mods.

Yep, close to 500hp. I remember a member here mentioning that the "still in development" supercharger for the Titan would make close to 490hp at the flywheel.
I believe most superchargers increase power output by at least 65%. 65% of the factory rated 305hp figure (actually around 330hp) is around 198hp at the flywheel. 305hp + 198hp is 503hp at the flywheel give or take a few hp.
Figuring the normal 25% drivetrain loss, you're looking at about 375rwhp. That should be enough to propel a stock Titan XE (KC) into the 13's in the 1/4 mile.

That would have to be a VERY worked Titan to get 500HP. Most SCs add between 50 and 100HP "only". In our case, 100HP that would only be about a 25% gain, but I'm more used to SCs on 4s and 6s...not big burly V8s.
Anyhow, a 5.3 second car is a 5.3 second car. Yeah it's still a Neon but a fast one. And any 17 year old can get to those fast numbers. Doesn't take a brainiac. And if they couldn't, they'd have to REALLY screw up if a 7 second to 60 truck can beat it...lol

agreed.....unless that guy blew the start and did not know how to drive, no way that a TITAN will beat a SRT-4.
btw, a supercharger does great on v8's. my dads 03 cobra convt. has a factory supercharger and that thing is wicked. all hes done to the engine is a CAI and exhaust. (also some shifter/suspension upgrades). he just had it dyno'ed and it was putting down 420 at the rear wheels. pretty suprised considering that its only rated for 390/flywheel from the factory. moral is: i think that the TITAN w/ its DOHC and 32V motor will really benefit from some sort of forced induction.

I'll say it again...it's still ONLY a Neon!!!
I disagree. Supercharging will be a percentage of power gained, not a straight 50hp or 100hp increase across the board for all engines. If you supercharged a typical 4-cylinder, the gain will be less than if you supercharged a typical V6 engine. Supercharging a big V8 (like ours) will give you a greater power increase across all HP/TQ curves at the same PSI than both the 4/6 cylinder engines. You have a larger air pump with a V8 engine (more pistons compressing the air) and supercharging it will generally give you a greater increase in power all things being equal. Yes, there are 240hp 4-cylinders (S-2000) and 240hp V8 (L98 Vettes). However, once you start supercharging both engines, the V8 will usually win hands down in total power output. Don't forget about TQ. It's the area under the curve that counts.
A 60-65% gain in total power IS accurate. Most ATI Prochargers give you at least a 60% gain in power when you purchase their self-contained centrifugal systems with intercooler. Some of their systems offer a 70-75% increase in power on certain engines.
Go to the Procharger site and look it up for yourself. They already make a superharger for the new Ford SOHC 3V 5.4L and it makes a reported 60-65% gain in total power. The DOHC 4V Endurance engine is even better (more efficient) so I'll assume the gain will be the same if not better for the Titan. An intercooled centrifugally charged Titan at 7-9PSI should be making close to 500hp at the flywheel. I'd be very disappointed if it didn't. Or course, when/if a supercharger is finally available for the Titan remains to be seen.

I think its for insurance purposes but ford underated the 03 cobras alot.
There rated at 390 crank hp but put down 381 at the wheels bone stock so there easily making 400 plus at the crank in stock form.
I got the 381 figure from mustangs and fast fords mag.
